" What? Say that again!" The man shouted over the phone.
" I saw Samuel Rothschild visiting this place." The person on the other side of the phone repeated.
" Are you sure? It would be a big problem if you were wrong."
" I am positive."
" Do you know why?"
" It turns out that he is somehow involved with the leader's daughter. That's all I know."
" Good work."
" Don't forget about the payment; I don't do this shit for free."
" Yeah, Yeah. I am hanging up. See you at the usual place. Keep me posted."
" Ok."
The man sighed after hanging up the phone; it was important news which meant he could score some big points with his boss. As a detective, he had several CIs spread across the city monitoring high-level targets.
Information was everything, especially ones pertaining to criminal gangs of the city. A Rothschild member visiting such a place could be the start of something massive. He got to inform his superior.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtHe quickly dialled his boss and told him what his CI told him.
" Are you certain that was Samuel Rothschild?" The Lieutenant asked. It was his job to oversee the several detectives of the department.
" I don't have proof, but he is a very reliable source. It must be true."
" Alright, I will inform the Captain. I will also put in good words for you."
" Thank you, sir!"
The Captain informed the Commander as the news travelled up the chain. Soon the Chief of the department was notified about Samuel's recent activities. It was not the first time he had troubled him.
The case of Koo Hye-sun was also handled by him. Since when did the Chief handle the simple theft cases? The answer was that it was a request from the leader of the ruling party. Now that such an absurd situation had arisen, he deemed it fit to inform them.
He wanted to directly dial Samuel's cell; unfortunately, he didn't have his number.
Douglas was in his office reviewing some documents when he received an unexpected call. He looked at the display name and wondered why he was calling.
" Hello, Mr Mason. I am a little busy at the moment. I will get back to you." He was not in the mood to entertain the Chief.
" Please, wait, sir. I received some essential news. I don't know what to make of it." Hearing the Chief's dilemma, Douglas stopped hanging up the phone.
" What is it?"
" It's about Samuel Rothschild. The thing is..." He explained the situation.
" How should I proceed? Should I send a few officers over just in case?"
" Don't! If they knew that you were spying on him even involuntarily would be a disaster. Wait for my call; I am looking into it." Douglas grabbed his forehead. He was baffled by the news, but he had to do something; if something did happen to him, he could say goodbye to his career.
After all, Rothschild was the reason he was gaining such momentum recently. The charity dinner was a huge success, but now, he had to handle it as delicately as possible.

Meanwhile, in the Reyes Family home, the eldest son Raul, entered.
" We can pay for it ourselves. We don't need your charity!"
" Raul?"
" Father, can't you see what he is doing? There is no free money in the world! He is trying to get you into his debt. That's what people like them do." Raul said while he glared at Samuel.
" This kid thinks he can come here and do whatever he wants!" He thought.
" You must be the elder brother of Liliana. You misunderstand the situation; I have nothing to gain from helping your mother. I was only making a suggestion." Samuel tried to reason with him.
" Shut up! You are an outsider; what do you know about our family? I don't know how you swindled my little sister, but it's over now. I guess I was too lenient with her; I am bringing her back today!" Raul exclaimed.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmHearing him, Samuel furrowed his brows; he never meant to complicate Liliana's life by coming here, but it looked like it couldn't be helped.
" Raul, be respectful to our guests. You come home after months, and this is what you must say? Your sister can do whatever she wants; you nor I will disturb her!" Enrique was frustrated with his son. He didn't know what they were teaching him, but he couldn't have him running amuck.
" Father, why are you always like this? This is our chance to rise to our former glory! Felipe doesn't care about this small hiccup; he will still take Liliana under his wing. I have already talked with him; she would not be treated differently."
" You bastard! Are you listening to yourself? She is your sister!" Enrique roared.
" I only want what's best for her. Sooner or later, they will take over the whole city. Isn't it best to maintain a good relationship with them from the start?" He had become a mouthpiece for the 89th street gang.
Samuel looked at Enrique, who didn't know how to reach him. It looked like he had to do it himself.
" This Felipe guy? Is he so great that you are talking down to your father while suggesting selling your sister as common goods?"
" Huh? What do you say, brat?"
" Idiot! Can't you even understand what you are doing? If you are that guy's lapdog, won't you become my personal dog if I get rid of him?"
" Hahahaha, kid, you must be some big shot in your country, but this is our city! If you keep running your mouth like that, I will break your smug face." Instead of getting mad, Raul took it as a child's rambling. It was not his first time seeing ignorant people.
" You-" Steve was about to rush out, but Samuel raised his hand to stop him. It was not time to act; he wanted everyone in one fell sweep.
" If you want, you can try; I don't think you know much about me or where I come from."
" Does it matter? In front of my bullets, everyone is dog food eventually."
" That might be true, but wouldn't it be good to capture me alive and present me to your boss? You know, my family have a lot of money."
" Oh, you have a point." Raul seemed interested. All he had heard about the Rothschild was that they were loaded. He didn't put them in his eye; they were not from this place. Even a local snake could kill the dragon if it put its mind to it!
" Boss?" Steve was dumbfounded. His boss was eccentric, but this was too close to the danger.
" Don't worry. I have a plan."
