bottomless eyes, she suddenly fell silent, unsure of how to answer.
Two minutes passed, and with no response, their eyes locked, and there was a hint of infatuation in their gazes.
Bert applied a little pressure with the hand holding her chin, not enough to hurt her, but enough to let her know he
was serious. He asked again, "Why?" "Because..." She spoke softly, hesitating for a moment before coming up with
a reason that didn't sound too awkward, "I don't want our relationship to be tainted by money and material
possessions."
So, repaying the money wasn't about drawing a clear line between them, but rather, Alivia wanted their relationship
to be more straightforward. With this realization, Bert's expression softened a bit.
"Is our relationship that important to you?"
