Everyone was shocked by what | said. The other doctors started talking about me.

“How can you say that? You don’t even know what the treatment is, do you? This isn’t a cure just anyone can

make.”

“Exactly. We all make an effort just to say hello to Doctor Grayson once a year. And here you are, talking about

getting us the cure.”

| ignored their comments, keeping my eyes focused on Doctor Nathan. He raised his hand to silence the doctors.

As chief physician, everyone at the hospital respected him.

“Are you sure, Selene?” he asked.

The doctors looked stunned. They turned to stare at Doctor Nathan.

They couldn’t understand why Doctor Nathan would trust someone who just appeared out of nowhere.

“Yes,” | answered confidently.

He nodded atwhile looking at Diana who stood behind me. When | turned to her, | saw hope in her

eyes.

“If Selene can help us, we'll save him. If she really can help, it would be a miracle,” Doctor Nathan said with

conviction.

“Selene, do you really have that cure? Will you really help Garrett?” Diana asked eagerly.

| nodded. She huggedto show her gratitude.

“I don’t know how to thank you. Even after everything that happened in the past, you're still willing to help us.”

| assured her | would do everything possible to help her husband.

Doctor Nathan cleared his throat. “I'll let the Alpha know to meetas soon as possible. | need to talk

to him.”

Diana smiled at Doctor Nathan. “Will Garrett get better soon, Nathan?”

When Nathan looked at me, it was like he believed | was the only one who could help. | nodded, and he

confidently replied, “He will.”

Diana sighed with relief and went to sit by Garrett.

While Doctor Nathan watched me, the other doctors went to adjust the medical equipment.

“I should go. Someone toldearlier today that my close friend had returned to the pack and wanted to meet

me.”

| knew he was talking about me. | gave him a smile before he left the room.

| stayed with Garrett for a while. Diana kept asking if | really knew how to make the cure and how I could read

those reports. | told her I'd explain everything about myself later. | just asked her to trust

me.

She said she had no choice but to trustsince her husband was dying.

When | saw a guard bring lunch for Garrett and Diana, | stood up.

“Have lunch with me. Garrett's sleeping, so I'll be eating alone anyway,” Diana offered.

“You go ahead and eat. | need to meet someone here. I'll be back in an hour.”

“Diana, please eat. I'll return soon.”

Diana didn’t try to stop me. | left the room to meet Doctor Nathan, figuring he might be free during lunch.

As soon as | stepped out, one of the security guards handeda bouquet of white roses - the ones I'd bought

for Doctor Nathan. I'd completely forgotten about them.

| thanked the guard for keeping them safe and headed to the elevator. Inside, | pressed the button for the head

doctor's floor.

While waiting, the doors opened, and there was Doctor Nathan, about to step in.

Looks like he was heading somewhere. He smiled as he entered the elevator.

“Hi,” | greeted him.

Since we were alone in the elevator, | smiled back and said, “Hi, | was just coming to see you.”

He didn’t seem surprised. Instead, he asked, “Why didn’t you cearlier? | was waiting for you.”

“I didn’t want to bother you during work hours.”

He chuckled at that. | shook my head and added, “Actually, | didn’t want to leave Diana when she was so

emotional.”

| noticed him glancing at the bouquet. | immediately handed it to him. “These are for you. | can’t thank you

enough for everything you did forfive years ago.”

This time, he looked surprised by my gratitude. While holding the flowers, he asked quietly, “Did your childr-"

Before he could finish, | answered, “They survived.”

| knew what he was trying to ask.

He stared atfor a moment. The elevator bell dinged, and the doors slowly opened.

We stepped out. I'd done what | cto do - thank him - so | thought about leaving, but he stopped

me.

“Selene, let's have lunch together.”
