Chapter 124 It Was Obvious Who Did It
“One of my friends who works at Stonebrook told me that Maia was kidnapped and the production team
kept a lid over this piece of news. What makes them think they could pull it off?
“My friend also said that they found Maia in the same place Zera died. It looks like there’s more to this
than meets the eye!”
“So, that’s what went down. It’s normal for Ms. Rita to suspect Maia, then. I think she’s also responsible
for the leaked video about Zera!
“After all, she’s the CEO of Starlight Entertainment. Don’t you guys think it’d be easy for her to turn up
with unfavorable news about celebrities?”
“If Maia really was responsible for it, then why would Cedric not do anything? After all, he grew up with
Zera. Is he going to let his younger sister’s reputation stay ruined because he’s taking Maia’s side?”
As their plane took off from the airport, Cedric and Maia turned off their phones. The news of their
return to Prismara spread quickly, and a large number of reporters camped out at the airport. They
intended to secure some first–hand news.
Hope was in her own home when she saw this news. She lifted her blanket and ran out of her
room.
“Buck!”
Buck bolted out of the kitchen. “What’s the matter? Calm down! Take it easy.”
Hope gave Buck her phone and said, “Look at this! Zera was murdered, and Rita pinned it on Maia.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThe whole internet is suspecting that she hired a hitman to kill Zera!”
Buck looked at her phone. He grew grim after reading all sorts of controversies.
“Ms. Maia told me to pick her up at the airport around 8 p.m. She didn’t tell me anything about this.”
“Perhaps Maia turned off her phone because she was on the plane. So, she’s not aware of this. This
thing was blown out of proportion. I’m sure the reporters are at the airport.”
Hope knew what awaited Maia there.
“Each of the reporters has a duty to fulfill. They’re not going to quit until Maia tells them what they want
to hear. She’s in trouble!”
Hope was getting worked up. “She could use the VIP lane and ditch the reporters at the airport, but we
don’t know how many more of them are waiting for her in the parking lot.”

Buck comforted her, “Easy. Ms. Maia’s probably with Cedric. He’ll protect her from the reporters. I’m
sure she’ll be fine. I’ll go and wait for her in the parking lot tonight. I’ll pick her up the moment she’s out
of the VIP lane.”
“I’m coming with you!”
“You were discharged from the hospital not long ago. You should get more rest.”
“I’m worried about Maia. I’m coming with you.” Hope was firm on that.
Buck was stunned. He saw a little bit of Maia in her. They truly were sisters. In the end, he had to let
her tag along.
“I need you to promise me that you’ll wait in the car.”
“Sure.”
The plane touched down at Prismara Airport at 8.05 p.m.
“Everything’s in order, Mr. Cedric.” The airport personnel flashed Cedric a professional smile.
He nodded and took Maia by her arm. “Follow me.” She was brought into the VIP lane before she could
react.
“Let me go. I can walk fine!”
“Do you want me to carry you again?”
She gritted her teeth and ignored him. She took out her phone and was about to ask Buck where he
was when the notifications from the news feed, WhatsApp, and text messages flooded in all at once.
It was mostly news about Zera’s murder and Maia being the prime suspect–it was bad!
She checked the video that was all over the internet. It was expertly edited. The part where Rita
questioned her was cut out of it. All that was left was the part where Rita cried her eyes out.
Every heart–wrenching question portrayed Rita as a mother who loved her daughter deeply. Maia, on
the other hand, was shown to turn a cold shoulder to all of Rita’s pleas. Cedric was not even in the
video.
It seemed that Maia was the sole target. It didn’t take a genius to figure out who was behind it.
Rita was by no means a decent lady. Her sudden appearance was proof of it. It seemed that she had
arranged for someone to secretly capture that moment, edit the video, and release it. Rita wanted the
public to crush Maia…
It explained why Cedric arranged a VIP lane with the airport personnel. The airport was

seconds before saying, “Why should I be afraid of anything?”
She was innocent, and she would prove it. The public would know the truth someday.
“On the contrary, you should probably be afraid. Zera was your adopted sister as well as your fiance.
She was murdered, but the mastermind has yet to be found. And yet here you are, mingling with the
suspect. You should watch your back, Cedric.”
It sounded as if she said this out of the kindness of her heart, but it was actually a warning for Cedric to
stay the hell away from her!
Cedric paid her no heed. “I’m the accomplice. Naturally, I have to stick with the suspect.”
Maia’s brow twitched, but she remained quiet.
Buck sent her his location as soon as she walked out of the VIP lane. She saw him immediately when
she stepped into the parking lot. It was hard to miss him. After all, he was 2 meters tall and had a broad
physique.
She said casually, “Really? It’s a shame, though. I don’t intend to stick with you, Cedric!”
Maia broke free of him and ran toward Buck! Cedric cursed and shouted worryingly, “You’re hurt!”
Maia could not be bothered. He would find a reason to take her away if she did not flee now! She would
never let him take advantage of her again. He got her last time by using Nigel and Aiken in the parking
lot.
Maia saw that there were some reporters hiding as she was dashing toward Buck. She lowered her cap
and yelled, “Hey. What are you guys waiting for? Cedric’s right there!”
