Chapter 1173 It's a Woman
However, the woman did not elaborate on that information. Instead, she glanced at Jenny
in anticipation. Speechless, Jenny asked Mr. Ortiz to furnish a second check. "Tell me,
what's the info?"
"The person who called me to take care of this man is a woman,’ she answered.
A woman? That was indeed an important clue.
Soon, Jenny left with Mr. Ortiz, Graham, and the other men they brought along. Graham
woke up in the middle of the trip, but she didn't notice it.
"Jenny? Why are you here?" He rubbed his temples and thought Jenny was merely an
illusion. At that time, the car had arrived at the entrance to the villa.
Jenny didn't answer, but she opened the car door for him. "Let's talk when we are in the
house."
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtGraham agreed, and he was helped into the villa by Mr. Ortiz.
Once they were in the villa, she reminded Mr. Ortiz to increase the security of the
compound by hiring more guards. Somehow, she felt that the case had not come to a
close. After she made all the necessary arrangements, she finally turned to Graham. "Dad,
can you tell me what happened?"
A moment of silence later, he told her everything from the start. After arriving in Bayside
City, he searched for Lynette's whereabouts, but he failed to gather any clues. Just like Mr.
Ortiz said, Graham had survived a few assassination attempts, confirming his suspicion
that Lynette was indeed in the city. He must have been close to the truth. Otherwise, the
mastermind wouldn't have sent assassins after him.
Still, he was unable to get more clues on Lynette. On the day he went missing, he had
been walking along the streets when he spotted a woman who looked like her. He sprinted
after the woman without much thought and ran into an alley, where the woman vanished
into thin air. While worrying about his next move, someone hit his head from behind, and
he fainted.
The next thing he knew, he woke up and saw Jenny in front of him.
"So, you're saying that you were unconscious throughout the time you went missing?" she
asked.
He nodded, and she frowned. It seemed that the person behind this incident wanted to
keep him unconscious on purpose. If so, what would be her motive?
Jenny could not find a reasonable explanation for the move. She was even baffled and
sank into silence.
Graham felt bad for her. "I'm sorry, Jenny, for giving you trouble."
"Dad, what are you talking about? I have to save you because you're my dad!’ She
sounded impatient and dropped the topic. "Let's focus on finding out the person who hit
you. Why did she text me to bring you home? Wasn't that too much?"
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmGraham nodded, but he held a different opinion. "Jenny, I don't think she has bad
intentions. She must have been doing that in my best interest."
"Oh, how is that so?’
"I told you that I survived a few assassination attempts, right? If I kept looking for Lynette,
I might run into more attempts. Perhaps, she knocked me out to save me from the
danger," he offered his analysis.
She thought his explanation was solid. "So, once she learned I was in Bayside City, she
instantly contacted me, telling me to collect you and leave the city."
"Yeah, I think so." He nodded, thinking that there was a good chance they were right.
Jenny agreed with him, but she struggled to figure out the motive of that woman. "But why
did she do so? Does she know you? Why would she help you?"
She did not believe that people would help others out of pure goodwill. She worried that
the woman who helped Graham might turn out to be a ticking time bomb if they could not
figure out her identity soon.
