Chapter 94 Katrina's POV I didn't think, I just acted. My heart dropped to my stomach and at spoint, I felt crazy for doing what I had done.
"Silas!" I screamed once more, and he immediately turned around.
The world spun as I jumped over the banister with my heart racing. My only goal was to get to Silas. I didn't care how reckless it was or how stupid it might seem-I needed him at this moment. Right now it was a moment of life or death. Literally.
My stomach flipped as I soared through the air and for a moment, I wondered if I'd completely lost my mind. But then, strong arms caughtand the impact knocked the breath out of me. Silas.
My lips pulled into a relieved smile and I wrapped my arms around his neck. For a moment, I thought he wasn't going to catchand I was going to be kissing the floor.
"Katrina," Silas growled loudly, and I pulled away from him with my heart racing.
His face was a mixture of shock and anger as he steadiedin his arms. "Are you out of your damn mind, Katrina? What the hell were you thinking?" he snapped, his tone dropping down a notch.
I glared up at him, still breathless but furious. "Did you not hear the gunshot, Silas? What else was I supposed to do, wave politely?" I couldn't help the sarcasm dripping from my words, my face scrunched up in annoyance.
I was being chased down by Chris and I had no choice but to jump down. Running down the staircase would have been a waste of time.
His jaw tightened as his eyes darted up toward the banister and I watched as they darkened slightly. My stomach sank as I followed his gaze. Chris stood there, his face twisted in fury, the gun glinting in his hand. "What is that filthy mutt doing on my property?" Silas growled low in his throat, the sound sending chills down my spine.
That was a question I wanted to ask myself, how did Chris get here. Silas clutchedtighter in his arms, steadyingto preventfrom falling.
"Men!" he barked, his voice echoing through the hall. His men, who had conveniently been absent earlier, rushed toward him.
Funny how they weren't here when I was about to be killed by him earlier: He pointed up at Chris without another word. The fury on his face was unlike anything I'd ever seen before. I didn't know if I was meant to be scared but I was happy the anger wasnt directed at me. "Bring him to me. Alive," he commanded, his voice ice cold.
Chris's confidence faltered for a split second, but then he smirked, clearly believing he could outsmart them.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtI wasn't certain where he wanted to go, or how he planned on escaping from them. But I wanted to see him do it. With no hesitation, he ran down the hallway, running out of sight.
"How did you think jumping down from the staircase was the best thing to do?" Silas growled in my ears, grabbing my cheeks and turning my face to him.
My heart skipped a beat and I pouted subconsciously. "It was the first thing that cto mind at that point," 1/4 08:00 Fri, Nov 29 W.

Slowly, Silas letslide down to the floor, balancingon my feet. He closed the distance between us and Chris, staring down at him.

"Silas, please," Chris begged, his voice barely above a whisper.
"Please?" Silas echoed, standing to his full height and towering over Chris.
"Did you say 'please' when you pointed a gun at my wife? When you tried to take what's mine?" Chris opened his mouth, but no words cout. He couldn't defend himself and that was what brought his end. Silas didn't wait for an answer. He pulled the trigger.

Blood seeped out of the wound in his head, pooling on the floor, Chris' eyes were still opened, staring lifeless at the ceiling.
Even as I stared at his lifeless body, I didn't feel the least bit sorry for him. In fact, Silas had done a lot of women a favour by ending his pathetic life.

"Good," Silas said, reaching out to brush a strand of hair from my face.
His touch was gentle, a stark contrast to the violence he'd just displayed and I didn't know what to think.
I swallowed hard, forcing myself to speak. "You didn't have to kill him." I admit that I hated Chris and Silas did in fact do us a Favour, but still...
Silas tilted his head, his eyes narrowing. "He threatened you. He would've done worse if I hadn't stopped him." "You had jumped over the banister in fear. What do you think would have happened if I hadn't caught you?"
I could see the fear hidden in his eyes and I realized he was actually worried about me. He wasn't just angry that Chris had cinto his house, he was furious that he almost hurt me.
I couldn't argue with Silas, but I still couldn't shake off Chris' death.
Silas leaned in, his lips a few inches away from my ears. "Never doubt this, Katrina. Anyone who tries to harm you will pay with their life." His words sent a shiver through me, terrifying and reassuringat the stime. I didn't know how to respond, so I simply nodded.
"Let's go," he said, taking my hand. "You don't need to see this anymore."
As he ledout of the room, I glanced back one last time. Chris's lifeless body was already being removed by Silas's men as if his existence had never mattered. SEND GIFT
