Anthony's fingers were stained with blood as he desperately tried to dig through the snow, seemingly oblivious to the pain.
However, the black hole appeared and disappeared, thwarting his attempts to find Lisa through digging.
"Uncle Anthony!" Lilly found him lying in the snow, his hands covered in blood. She asked, "What happened?" Then, she anxiously helped him up.
"Lilly, Aunt Lisa... hurry and save her!" Anthony clung to Lilly's arm as if it were his lifeline. "She fell, and | don't know where she went..." Panic filled his eyes.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtTime had left some marks on his face, but he still looked handsome and composed. However, his composed demeanor was now mixed with a childlike panic as he anxiously looked at Lilly. He hoped that she would reassure him that Lisa would come back.
However, destiny had other plans, and disappointment awaited him.
Lilly's lips moved slightly, and she sighed softly. "Uncle Anthony, you have to let go." She had mentioned before that Lisa couldn't stay in the Human Realm, and Lisa was bound to leave. After all, Lisa had stayed long enough over the years, so leaving now was a normal thing. Still, Lilly just didn't expect it to happen at that time of the year.
Anthony sat on the cold ground, unable to accept the harsh reality. He insisted, "No, she'll come back. She promised to try and stay. She's been to so many places over the years, never resting, solving countless problems for others..." He knew Lisa had never allowed herself to rest. Despite being the wife of the CEO of Crawford Holdings, she hadn't fully enjoyed her life. She couldn't even stay with her newborn child and had to endure the pain of separation. She had hoped to be in the same world, at least able to return home for Christmas and holidays. How could it end like this? He gazed blankly at the spot where his wife had disappeared. Was this a permanent farewell, without any preparation, without a chance to say goodbye? Lilly, with a heavy heart, urged, "Uncle Anthony, let's go back. Grandma is still waiting for you." Anthony remained seated in the cold snow, feeling a chill to his bones. He mumbled, Go back? He had once thought he could live like this forever and be content. But now, returning to a home without Lisa, something would always be missing.
Lilly assisted him to his feet and whispered, "Drake, Josh, and Matthan still need you... Uncle Anthony, pull yourself together.” He looked at her hopefully. "Lilly, will | see her again?" He suddenly looked delighted and asked, "When I'm old and pass away, will I reunite with her?" Lilly struggled to express the truth. If she had never ventured into the Nether and remained unaware that the descendants of the witch clan now resided there, she might have said, "Yes, you will meet her." However, armed with the knowledge that Lisa, being neither human nor ghost, existed in a state between life and death, Lilly understood Lisa must have been compelled to go to the Nether.
The deceased would go to the netherworld, and the living would remain in the mortal world. Those who were neither dead nor alive—the descendants of the witch clan—naturally went to the Nether.
Lilly didn't understand what the sudden appearance of the black hole meant or if it was connected to the crack in the back door of the Nether. If so, she knew Lisa might not be able to pass safely.
At that moment, Lilly found herself unable to take any action. She was uncertain whether the descendants of the witch clan had any karmic consequences due to her past intervention. Now, Lisa had disappeared without warning.
The dilemma plagued Lilly with questions. If she intervened again, would Lisa vanish forever, losing both body and soul? Throughout her journey, Lilly had contemplated this, repeatedly calculating that if she refrained from intervening, Lisa might have a chance of survival. Yet, if she intervened, Lisa would undoubtedly die.
Lilly sensed a logical inconsistency in the situation, though she couldn't quite put her finger on it. Hence, she decided to seek guidance from Blake and Pablo upon her return.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmWhile assisting Uncle Anthony, she couldn't dwell on these thoughts. She immediately accompanied him back to the Crawford Mansion.
Tears welled up in Anthony's eyes, and he silently pleaded, Lilly, please, tell me a comforting lie... even if it's not true, deceive me, okay? On a quiet, secluded road with no surveillance cameras, Jonas sat in the driver's seat, texting Quinnie. "I'll be back soon, waiting for my brother..." Unaware of Lilly's return, as soon as he arrived at the Crawford Mansion, he discovered that she had gone out again to pick up Anthony. Consequently, Jonas took on Gilbert's responsibility and drove out to pick them up.
Everyone in the Crawford family was familiar with that road, and Jonas had been waiting for ten minutes. As the car sank slightly, he looked up and saw Anthony and Lilly returning. "Back already?" he asked, feeling a sense of relief. However, before he could say anything, he noticed that Anthony's expression was off. "Anthony?" he inquired, concerned.
Anthony appeared disoriented, with stubble on his chin and an air of complete dejection about him. In a deep voice, he uttered, "Let's go home." Jonas harbored a foreboding feeling, wanting to ask about Lisa, but he didn't dare to pry.
Then, Lilly shook her head, signaling him not to press for information. He could only start the car and slowly drive back to the Crawford Mansion.
At that moment, the Crawford Mansion was bustling with activity. Matthan and Riley were seated on the carpet, exchanging incomprehensible baby babble.
Suddenly, Matthan turned his head and stared blankly at the door.
Bettany glanced over and asked, "What's wrong?" Sensing that something was wrong, she wondered if Lilly had returned. Bettany knew that if Lilly were back, he would have been excited, rushing out to greet her instead of wearing the perplexed expression he currently had.
