Alice wasn’t surprised by the outcome; it was inevitable. If Luke hadn't chosen Chloe as the gunner and hired a

skilled player, they might not have lost so badly-they might have even won. Luke had chosen Chloe to prove she

was enough. His personality hadn't changed. Alice smiled; she wondered if Luke was satisfied. She certainly was.

In her past life, she'd won the championship, only to be replaced by Chloe at the last minute. This time, she'd

watched Luke

lose.

Luke's face was grim; he left the stage. The winning team accepted interviews. Their captain looked at

Alice.“This was an easy win. We expected to be eliminated. Alice’s absence gave us a chance.” If Alice had

competed, they wouldn't have won.

Reporters approached

Alice.“Miss Alice, your thoughts on the match?”

There are wins and losses. The champion represents everyone's efforts.” She gave a diplomatic

response.

She saw Chloe leaving. Noah went to the locker room and found Luke berating Chloe. Chloe was crying, feeling

wronged; she'd done her best, but the team hadn't supported her.

Noah arrived.“Everyone’s tired. Let's go.” The team left. Chloe wiped her tears.“Second Brother, | really tried.”

“I know. Go with them.”

Luke was frustrated.”Second Brother, was that trying? She wasn’t even a tenth as good as Alice. | trusted her!”

“It’s not Chloe's fault. You knew her skill level yet let her compete. You wanted to spite Alice and got what you

deserved.”

Luke felt aggrieved. He admitted he'd had that intention but hadn't expected Chloe to be so bad; he'd thought

she'd improved. She hadn't.

“Sixth Brother, Chloe tried. Don’t blher. You drove Alice away; you can only blyourself.“-

Luke slumped in his chair.“l just didn’t adapt to Alice’s changes. She changed too quickly; | thought she was just

sulking.”

“I warned you, but you didn’t believe me. Think about it.” Noah had said everything he could.

Luke covered his face, feeling complex emotions. He realized something was missing without Alice.

Alice was surrounded by fans after leaving the venue. She finally hailed a taxi. Back at the apartment, she

relaxed.

Andrew Yates sat on the sofa.“Alice, satisfying to watch them lose?”

“Very.” She'd known the outcome, but seeing it happen was satisfying.

“Someone made a funny video with commentary on the match!”

Alice watched a video of Chloe's disastrous performance with hilarious commentary.[]

Alice smiled.“Chloe will probably livestream and cry about this.”

She was right. Chloe issued a statement threatening to sue the video creator for defamation.

Landing’s loss beca source of amusement for days. But then, her older brother called.“Alice, you didn’t

compete? What's wrong? You shouldn't have a tantrum at such a time!”

Alice’s tone was sarcastic.”Sixth Brother didn’t let me. He couldn't find a replacement, tried to save face, and

lost!”

“You know Sixth Brother's temper. He just couldn’t save face and asked you. As his sister, shouldnt you have

been more proactive?”

Alice’s tone was cold.”l wasn’t going to be proactive.” She hung up, her good mood ruined. She realized she'd

been too accommodating in the past, leading them to ignore her and exploit her. She wasn’t that naive anymore.

Alice slept well after venting her past frustrations. Soon after the finals, the college entrance exam results came

out. She couldn't sleep the night before; she waited at her computer.

Jack brought fruit.“Don’t be nervous. Have more faith in yourself.”

“I'm a little anxious. | want to see the results.” She knew the outcof many things, but not this.

Andrew Yates arrived with snacks.“Let’s eat and wait. This is my first twaiting for college results.”

“You didn’t take the exam?” Alice was surprised.

Jack looked at Andrew Yates.“We were admitted early.”

“Yes, early admission.” Andrew Yates almost slipped up. They'd either been admitted early o studied abroad.

Alice was

impressed. “You

“You got it! You're so smart!”

were admitted early to Harvard University?”

“I didn’t expect you to be so talented!” Early admission!

Andrew Yates nervously changed the subject.“It’s almost time. Alice, open the website. It might be slow later.”

Alice didn’t ask more questions. She took a deep breath and logged in. When it was time, she entered her details

and clicked “Check Results.”

The results appeared, and Alice was confused.”Why are there only asterisks? Did the website crash?”
