Chapter 9 His lawyer walked into his office, holding the file in his hand.

He'd just finished from an important meeting where he had been absent-minded most of the tand simply wanted to go home. But his lawyer called, saying he had something important to show him. After the formalities, the advanced man dropped sdocuments before Kage.

"Those are the divorce papers, he announced.

Ajolt of electricity ran through Kage. His forehead crumpled as he picked it up.

"We still have five days. Why is it being submitted already?" His tone was low.

"Actually... Sylvie filed for it herself." Now, that was the major blow. Energy drained from Kage's body as he lifted his bewildered gaze to his lawyer. "She what?" The man sighed. "I received them this morning and was just as shocked. Seems like she couldn't wait for us to file the divorce." Kage scoffed, his mind reeling.

His lawyer had already been processing the divorce papers and was supposed to be the one to send them to Sylvie. What he never expected was her filing for it herself.

It's been two days since the accident. Later that evening, he'd returned to the hospital as promised to check up on her, only to discover she had asked to be discharged. He had tried reaching out to her, but even her father didn't know where she was. Now, there he was, receiving divorce papers from her. Was she being serious? From the divorce agreement, she wasn't asking for anything at all.

Angrily, he tossed the papers to the table. I'm not signing it. Not yet "She... already signed hers, sir. So, you'll have to do this.

More shock. Not only did she file for a divorce, but she already signed hers? His nose flared in indignation. She was joking.

He might want the divorce, but she didn't have the right to divorce him in that manner.

Or was she You can ***** acting that way over the loss of the child? 1. go. I'll sign them when I want," he grumped.

A week later, there was still no word from Sylvie. Kage as well as her family had done all they could to find her, but to no avail. They began to suspect she had left the country.

He was furious. Wounded. Over and over, he tried reaching her on phone but couldn't. Until finally, he was left with no choice but to sign the papers.

As he did, he did so with so much grudge in his heart SIX WEEKS LATER *************** Sylvie stood before the mirror, packing her hair into a bun. Her phone was on the bed beside her, one of her staff remindin her of svital issues.

"I know, Luke. I'm already done, okay? I'll be there before you say Jack." "Yeah, I know how difficult he can be. Don't you worry, he'll seesoon." The call ended.

Done with her hair, she added scolor to her lips and cheekbones, then gave herself one final look in the mirror.

Out of habit, her hand rested on her tummy. There wasn't much difference to it to indicate there was a baby, but Sylvie knew her babies were still there, cooking.

A small smile touched her lips. Grabbing her bag, she left.

It's been six weeks since she separated from Kage. They hadn't set eyes on each other as she had left the country the day after the accident. She had filed for the divorce which was signed a week later, and although it wasn't the easiest thing to do, she had to get over it. Initially, she'd ran away with the intentions of having the babies outside the country, away from Kage and everyone else's knowledge. She wasn't supposed to return until a year or two, but unfortunately, business forced her to.

Her father's crippling company finally found a project that was supposed to boost them. Two people were sponsoring it, and that morning, Sylvie was meeting with one of them.

Sylvie never wanted to return, but she was the only one her father trusted. So, she decided to do it for him, causing her to return a week ago. The deal was only going to last a month. Sylvie was sure she'd be able to hide the pregnancy until then, so she could leave the country.

She hadn't run into Kage or anyone from his family, and she hoped to God she wouldn't. The divorce was meant to bring her skind of peace. And she was going to find it.

Stopping in the parking lot, she hurried out of the car and into the building. Mr. Ambrose was a very impatient man.

Sylvie was thankful the pregnancy wasn't making her lazy. Even her family didn't know she was pregnant, she didn't know how to tell them yet. No one actually knew she was pregnant, none could tell. But Sylvie knew it was only going to be a matter of time. She took the elevator and was soon at Ambrose's office.

"Good morning, sir. Hope I didn't keep you waiting?" She asked as she took a seat.

Ambrose had been going through spapers but paused to glance at Sylvie from underneath his glasses, "You did. But it's fine, he mumbled.

However, they were having a third party in the investment, ё and Sylvie needed to get the signature from the other"Who are these people? She casually asked, scanning her eyes through the papers. "Oh. That'll be Fluxpoint. They're actually the ones bringing more of the money in. So, getting their signature is extremely important, he replied, seeming absent-minded as he flipped through a book. Sylvie's mouth dropped open. No, no way.
