Nicole stood up when she heard Harvey's voice. She glanced at him with a faint smile and replied politely, "Thank
you."
"You're welcome. If you ever feel guilty about it, why not treat me to a meal?" Harvey added, as if he did not care
much about the result either.
"I won't," Nicole replied coldly. Then she left with Jared.
She was not fooled by Harvey's apparent graciousness. It was all an act, and she could not be bothered to play
along.
