Oliver eased into his seat, locking eyes with Esther as he gently spoke. “It’s tough to convey everything over the
phone. Just come to the hospital to meet me.”
Esther, her anxiety evident, wasted no time after he hung up. “Uncle Oliver, any news about my mom?”
“Yes,” Oliver replied. “Don’t fret. We’ll know more when he arrives.”
Esther glanced at Felix, peacefully dozing beside her, and nodded softly. “I’ll trust your judgment.”
“Take some rest. It’ll be a while before they get here.”
“Okay.”
As Oliver left the ward, he left Faye’s picture behind.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThroughout her time with the Ansteys, Esther had never possessed a photo of Faye. No one, other than herself,
seemed to care about Faye. Leah and Billy barely acknowledged her. Whenever she felt wronged, the graveyard
was her sole confidant.
Esther had always assumed Faye was no longer alive. For the first time, a glimmer of hope flickered within her
today.
Where was her mother? Did Faye know of her struggles? Did she know she was missed?
Everyone else had mothers to lean on, such as Mandy and Liliane.
Esther longed for one as well—a mother to console her in sorrow, share her joy, and embrace her when loneliness
crept in.
Esther scrutinized Faye’s image, her heart aching. Her mother was breathtakingly beautiful, a reason why Billy had
raised her.
“Mom, where are you? I miss you so much,” she muttered.
Her thoughts danced between her mother and her daughters. She tenderly caressed Felix’s hair, her gaze full of
motherly love.

Exiting the ward, Oliver crossed paths with Agatha. They silently headed to an outdoor balcony, and Agatha cut to
the chase. “Oliver, Esther’s condition is even graver than I feared. She’s extremely fragile now and can’t endure
more stress.”
“I understand. I’ll ensure her safety and keep Bradley away from her,” Oliver said.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmEveryone knew Bradley was the cause of Esther’s suffering. His repeated harm had pushed her to the brink of
death multiple times.
“That’s good.” Agatha stared into the distance. “Esther’s twin daughters are missing. Can you help find them?”
“I will.”
DNA testing had confirmed Esther’s identity as a Quill, Faye’s daughter. Oliver wouldn’t tolerate any mistreatment
of her. In the past, he had shown some leniency to Bradley due to Felix, but the current Bradley had forfeited his
right to be a husband or a father.
“When Esther’s health improves and she is ready to leave the hospital, I’ll arrange a place for her to recover and
regain her strength.”
“Understood.”
Bradley had relentlessly pushed Esther to the brink time and again.
