Clark knew better than anyone that if Thomas were alive, he would never allow Liliane to marry into the
Warners, even if she was pregnant and brought the child to the door.
“Doctor, can we go in and see her?” Clark sought the permission of the doctor in the ICU.
After glancing at the tablet with information about Esther’s condition, the doctor said straightforwardly,
“You two don’t have to go into the ICU for now. I’m arranging to transfer her to a regular ward, but her
condition is rather unusual. She personally lacks the will to live, so if you can awaken her will to live,
that’ll be the best.”
Felix clenched his fists and said obediently, “We’ll do our best.”
Clark asked with a sympathetic expression, “Is her condition very bad?”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt“Especially bad.” The doctor also showed sympathy and said, “She just had a bone marrow
transplant surgery and received a strong emotional trauma. Her current condition is really poor. You
should spend more time with her.”
“Okay. Thank you, doctor.”
The nurses transferred Esther from the ICU to a regular ward. She was placed in a room next to Felix’s
with Clark’s intervention.
Clark walked to Esther’s bedside and discreetly plucked a few strands of hair from her head, intending
to use them for a DNA maternity test with Felix.
“Felix, you stay here and behave. I’ll go out to handle something,” said Clark.
Felix cutely replied, “Grandpaw Clark, I’ll be good and wait for you here.
Clark did not dare to do the DNA maternity test at the hospital under the Warner Group. He was
uncertain whether the DNA data obtained here would be different, so he specifically contacted an old
friend in another city and entrusted him to do the DNA maternity test at a hospital there.
However, due to the distance between the two places, it would take some time to get the DNA test
results. It was at least, a more secure option. He did not believe Liliane could influence another city’s
DNA test data.
Of course, Clark also prepared Bradley’s sample when he prepared Esther and Felix’s samples.
Everything was done very discreetly. When Clark went to mail the package, Felix was left alone in
Esther’s room.
Felix’s health had improved significantly compared to Esther’s. He got off the wheelchair and

Esther’s pale face. Tears fell from his eyes as his heart ached.
“Mommy, wake up!
“Mommy, I’m Felix!”
Esther remained motionless on the hospital bed. It was as if she were simply sleeping-not even her
eyelashes twitched.
Felix was not discouraged. He climbed onto the bed, carefully avoiding the intravenous tube on the
back of Esther’s hand, and nestled himself into her embrace. He tilted his small face upward to press it
gently against Esther’s chest, and the familiar sound of her heartbeat resonated in his ears.
