Esther felt trapped by Bradley, cornered like a scared animal. Before she could react, Bradley barged into her
world, causing destruction and chaos.
“Did you hear that noise?” someone asked.
Tears streamed down Esther’s face as she was filled with fear.
But Bradley seemed indifferent to her terror and acted as if nothing happened.
“What noise? I didn’t hear anything.”
“Ms. Quill and Mr. Warner are missing. Could it be…”
“Don’t involve me if you want to offend Mr. Pendleton!”
After what felt like an eternity, the restroom returned to peace.

Bradley calmly adjusted his suit, looking at Esther with cold disdain. “Ever since you agreed to marry Pendleton
behind my back, you should have known I wouldn’t let you off.”
Bradley opened the door and left without another word.
Afraid Bradley might return, Esther quickly closed the stall door and sobbed uncontrollably on the toilet.
She didn’t know how long she cried before emerging. She looked in the mirror, feeling disgusted.
When she returned to the banquet after composing herself, it had ended.
Chadwick teased Bradley about his bandaged hand, “What happened to your hand, Warner?”
Bradley replied casually, “I saw a stray cat in the garden when I went to the restroom. I couldn’t resist teasing it,
and it ended up biting me.”
Esther tensed up upon hearing that.
Mandy noticed Esther’s reaction and playfully said, “If a stray cat has scratched you, you should get a tetanus shot.
Who knows what kind of virus it might carry?”
“You’re right,” Bradley agreed, taking Mandy’s hand.
With a gracious smile, he said, “I’ll go get the vaccine right now.”
Mandy discreetly pulled her hand away with a sweet smile. “I’ll drive you there.”
“Sure.”

As Bradley and Mandy walked by Esther, their affectionate demeanor hurt her.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmChadwick immediately confronted Esther, “What’s wrong with you? Do you have a problem with my mother?”
“Mr. Pendleton, my wound is bothering me a bit.”
“Esther, remember you agreed to marry me willingly. Don’t act like I forced you into it! Got it?” Chadwick
scrutinized Esther, noticing her touching her wound.
Impatiently, he added, “Go to the hospital yourself. Don’t make yourself look like you’re at death’s door in front of
me.”
“I’ll go to the hospital right away,” Esther replied eagerly.
“Wait,” Chadwick grumbled. “I’ll send you there.”
“No need, I can take a taxi.”
“Get in. Don’t waste my time!”

Chadwick personally drove Esther to the hospital. After a brief examination, the doctor said sternly, “Your wound
has bled. You should be more careful.”
“Okay.”
