Chapter 1952
They roared with laughter.
It did not seem like they knew that Isabel was the only daughter of the Carters, much less Caprice's identity.
There was nothing but slight for Isabel in their voice, and that hostility spread toward Caprice who happened to be
her partner.
Caprice frowned.
Upon hearing their unruly waves of laughter, Isabel halted and glared sharply at them. Even with the blinding lights
shooting in every direction, there was a piercing shine in her eyes that was unflinching and hostile.
It seemed like she was threatening to pounce on them if any one of them dared to even chuckle at all.
The gossiping women were instantly silenced, not expecting such retaliation from Isabel.
It was only after Isabel led Caprice into the venue that they came back to their senses. They got so infuriated that
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtthey began insulting Isabel again, aware that she could not hear them now.
Meanwhile, Caprice and Isabel had stepped into the venue with their invitation cards.
Isabel was a popular actress and immediately drew a lot of attention. Caprice, who was dressed like a princess,
received a fair share of reception as well.
Neither was Isabel fazed by the attention nor was Caprice even though she was not a fan of such events and being
under the spotlight. She made sure to stick close to Isabel's side.
Isabel got herself a glass of wine while Caprice opted for fruit juice and some pastry. They sat together and ate.
From time to time, they would have to brush off the advances of men who came up to Isabel to flirt with her.
At one point, a fine-looking young man who seemed well-behaved approached Caprice.
He looked straight into her eyes and asked, "Hello, beautiful. Would you like to chat for a moment?"
Before Caprice could refuse, Isabel chased the man away, "No. She's my sister-in-law.”
The man was flabbergasted and left with his head downcast in defeat.
Caprice smirked and took a sip of the juice. She liked it when Isabel addressed her as her sister-in-law.
After that, the man stopped flocking toward them. The constant rejection of every man who approached them so
far must have sent an effective message that the two girls were not interested.
Isabel continued enjoying her wine.
At one point, it suddenly occurred to Caprice that something strange was going on. She had a feeling that Isabel
hated being here at all, so why was she here?
She asked bluntly, "Isabel, why did you come to this party tonight at all?”
"Well, it's my dad who made me attend," she confessed.
"Oh.”
She recalled her argument with Liam in the office that she overheard.
Since Odell wanted her to take over the family business, he must have wanted her to attend the dinner party that
was akin to an annual tradition. It was a chance for the industry leaders to mingle and for people to see Isabel.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"Anyway, how are things with you and my brother progressing?" Isabel changed the topic suddenly. Her eyes were
glowing with red, burning with curiosity.
Caprice nearly stuttered. She said with her face turning into the shade of ripe tomatoes, "We're just... doing the
usual things a normal couple do."
"Have you kissed yet?” Isabel asked without shame.
Caprice lowered her head shyly. "Yeah."
When Isabel noticed Caprice's shy reaction, she asked while stifling a smile, "Slept together yet?"
Caprice picked at her fingers. ‘ Not yet.”
Isabel flashed a look of disbelief.
Caprice hurriedly added, "But I touched his abs a few times."
'Touch his what now?" What sort of queer interaction was that supposed to be?
Isabel did not attempt to conceal her shock at all. She was utterly speechless.
This only furthered Caprice's shame. She grunted and wanted to bury herself in a hole.
Was close bodily contact not intimate enough?
Isabel expressed with a sigh, "Well, I have to say, you’re a good match for my brother."
One was old-fashioned while the other was a silly girl.
