Chapter 1850

Caprice felt like she was suffocating underneath the intense pressure.

She scrunched up her neck like a bird.

Liam’s voice tore through the silence. “Caprice, you sure are something.”

She murmured, “I just wanted to prove myself.”

Liam pinched her cheeks.

She flinched and tried to back away, but he pinched her cheeks tightly so she could not move away.

She remained still like a totem, her eyes began to water.

He rebuked her sharply, “You’re working for some garbage company that would send a new staff to handle

business negotiation. What are you trying to prove? Are you using your head at all?”

She was the only daughter of the richest man in Glanchester. In the future, not only would she inherit her father’s

business empire, but she would also inherit her mother’s many assets as well.

Remaining idle at home would be a far better option than working in a morally questionable company!

Caprice had never seen Liam being so cross with her.

She shivered with fear.

When she recalled the reason she came back to Westchester to take up the job, she suddenly felt like crying.

Simultaneously, a burst of anger rose up her chest.

She exclaimed out of nowhere, astonishing herself with her sudden burst of courage, “I’m not stupid! I just wasn’t

expecting him to bring me to some sort of place like this!”

Liam frowned. “So you’re saying that I was wrong?”

His voice dropped by several pitches.

Caprice pursed her lips and chose silence.

Partly because she did not know what to say, and partly because she did not want to vent her

frustration at him.

He shot her a severe look. “What’s the name of the company you work for?”

She pursed her lips and was hesitant to answer.

He cocked an eyebrow. “Caprice, I’m asking you a question.”

“Am I obliged to answer just because you asked?” Caprice protested weakly.

They were not lovers, nor was he his actual brother.

Liam fell speechless.

After several seconds of uncomfortable silence, he let go of her at last. Then, he took out a phone from his pocket.

Caprice grew nervous. “Who are you calling?”

“Your parents. I need to let them know what you’ve been up to.” He began scrolling through his

contacts.

Caprice grew frantic, she jumped on top of him and managed to snatch the phone away from him.

Liam seized her arms firmly without so much as a tinge of panic. He tried to pry the phone out of her fingers.

She resisted mightily.

She hunched over to keep the phone as close to her body as possible. No matter what, she could not let Liam

contact her parents.

Liam did not so much as grunt the entire time.

He looked down at Caprice.

Caprice was practically crouched over on top of his lap by this point.

Caprice seemed to not realize the position she was in. When she noticed that Liam had stopped trying to fight her

for the phone, she turned to him and stated her terms as if she was the victor of a battle, “If you promise to not call

my parents, I’ll give the phone back to you.”

Liam frowned. “Caprice, you have three seconds to get up.”

Caprice refused to yield. “Only if you promise not to call my parents.”

Liam closed his eyes, it seemed like he was struggling with something.

Caprice noticed his pained expression but still refused to let up until she got what she wanted.

She held onto the phone tightly and refused to let go.

That was when her wrist brushed against something.

She was confused by the unexpected sensation. “Liam, what’s this hard thing you have here-”

“Alright, I won’t call them.” Liam cut her sentence short.

She seemed perplexed by his strange behavior. “Liam, what’s with your voice? Are you okay?”

“You better get up before I kick you out of the car!” He roared suddenly.

Caprice was spooked by this and immediately shot up and away like a loosened spring.

She carefully handed the phone to Liam, cupping it in both hands as if it was a priceless treasure.

Liam took the phone and shoved it back into his pocket.

He barely looked at Caprice after that. He lowered the window and shouted at his driver and bodyguards standing

outside, “Come on, we’re leaving.”
