Chapter Sixty Nine Third Person POV.
35% 5 Stars After Richard and Amber moved away from the confrontation with Kayden, Richard couldn’t help but feel a surge of concern for his wife. He turned to her, his eyes scanning her face for any signs of distress.
“Amber, are you okay?” he asked. “That must have been tiring to deal with. I'm sorry you had to deal with him on a day like this.” Amber sucked in a breath, her face briefly displaying a mix of emotions before settling into a determined expression. She paused for a few seconds, gathering her thoughts, before responding.

But seeing a useless bastard like Kayden at this party has actually madefeel a lot better. It kind of remindedthat bastards also dress in suits and pretty dresses.” Richard chuckled at her blunt assessment, a hint of amusement dancing in his eyes. He extended his hand towards her, a playful glint in his gaze. “Well, let's not let a useless bastard ruin our night,” he said. “How about we forget him and have a little fun on the dance floor? Would you like to dance with me?” Amber's eyes lit up with excitement as she accepted Richard's hand. “Absolutely,” she replied, her smile widening. “I'd love to dance with you.” They made their way to the dance floor, their bodies moving in sync with the music. Richard's hand rested gently on Amber's waist, while Amber's arm was draped around his neck. As they danced, their gazes remained locked on each other, the world around them blurring into the background.
Amber's voice, filled with warmth, cut through the music. “Has anyone ever told you that you have the most beautiful eyes?” Richard chuckled softly, his eye's crinkling at the corners. “Really?” he replied. “And what's so beautiful about my basic green eyes?” 1/3 1418 Sat 2 Mar M DC.

Richard” she protested. “So, I'm not drunk. | know exactly what I'm saying.” As the music grew louder. Richard tilted his head slightly, catching the rhythm with a grin on his face. He temporarily let go of Amber's hand, spinning her around playfully before smoothly pulling her back into his arms. His strong arms wrapped around her waist again, causing Amber to let out a startled gasp as they briefly rested on her butt.
11 have to admit Amber, I'm struggling to believe that you think I'm all that attractive or whatever you just said.” Richard confessed. “You said it yourself, back in the car after the wedding, that the thought of kissing someone likewas unappealing.” He hated the fact that he sounded petty, but since the statement she made that day had bothered him a lot, he decided it was tto talk about it and perhaps understand if she meant it literally or if there was another meaning he couldn't decipher.
Amber stared back at him, a puzzled expression clouding her features. She furrowed her brow, trying to recall what he was referencing. “LI don’t remember saying anything like that,” she responded.
“What are you talking about?” Richard frowned, feeling a surge of frustration mixed with self-doubt. He hesitated for a moment before clarifying his voice laced with a touch of disappointment. “You don’t remember tellingthat! Just a few weeks ago,” he said. “It bothered me. Amber. And | hate to admit it, but it kind of madefeel like you didn’t really want to be around me.” Amber's eyes widened, realization dawning on her. She gasped in surprise before bursting into a hit of laughter, unable to contain her amusement at the misunderstanding. “Oh, Richard,” she choked out between pizzes. “I can’t believe you've been thinking about that all this time!” Richard's frown deepened, his face displaying a mix of confusion and relief. “Wait, so you do remember saying it?” he asked, his voice unsure.

Just not in a condescending way,” she clarified. “Trust me, | would never say something like that in that context. You must have misunderstood me.” Richard looked at Amber, his eyebrows furrowing as he tried to understand what she had meant by her previous statement. “Can you clarify what you meant, then? What was so unappealing about the idea of kissing me?” he asked.
He genuinely wanted to understand her perspective so that he could finally stop thinking in the back of his mind that Amber may be a little repulsed by him.

Maybe | didn’t use the right words, but | just didn’t want to have to get used to being intimate with someone again, especially not someone like you.” Richard Estened intently, his mind racing to grasp the reasoning behind her words. He wanted to know what had made her feel that way and what was going through her mind. But before he could delve deeper into the conversation, the music abruptly cto an end, signaling the end of the dance. The chatter of other partygoers immediately filled the air, making it difficult for them to continue their conversation without being overheard.
Richard glanced around, a restlessness building in him. He wanted a quiet place where they could have privacy and he could clear his curiosity. He'd suddenly remembered that he'd seen a nearby room, so he'd gently tugged at Amber's hand, silently urging her to follow him.
But just as they were about to slip away, a voice called out Richard’s name, halting them in their tracks. Both Richard and Amber turned their heads, their eyes landing on Louis Vidal, who was making his way towards them with a wide grin on his face. And as soon as Richard saw him, he let out a frustrated sigh.
