Chapter 367 Growing Intimacy

Aletta was sound asleep on the bed, completely unaware of the man’s words.

The next morning, Aletta woke up and had breakfast with Jason before heading back to the research institute.

As she entered the building, she saw Lewis coming out of his office.

Seeing the dark circles under his eyes, which seemed even darker than before. Aletta couldn’t help but ask, “Did

you pull an all- nighter again?”

Lewis yawned and replied, “No, I slept a few hours in the office.”

It was enough to sustain him for the whole day.

Aletta looked at him with concern and said, “Lewis, please take care of your health. Don’t die prematurely at such a

young age.”

Although her words were meant to show concern, they didn’t sound quite right.

Lewis chuckled and said, “I won’t die prematurely. I have regular check–ups, and I’m confident I’ll live another sixty

years at least.”

After speaking, he entered the research room.

In the morning, they worked together on their research. After a few hours of busyness, Aletta’s phone rang.

She had forgotten to put it on silent in the morning and immediately looked towards Lewis, afraid of disturbing him.

However, he didn’t react at all. As if nothing, even a major event, could distract him from looking at the data and

doing his research.

Aletta breathed a sigh of relief and hurriedly went outside to answer the call.

It was Jason on the other end. She asked, “What’s the matter?”

“Come out and get lunch downstairs,” he replied.

Lunch?

Was it already noon?

Aletta glanced at her phone and realized that it was indeed lunchtime.

However, she was still a bit surprised and asked, “Why did you specifically come over?”

The person on the other end made a sound and said, “I’m afraid someone won’t eat properly and will feel unwell in

the hotel at night.”

Aletta felt warm upon hearing that and immediately said, “Wait for me, I’ll come down now!”

In no time, she arrived downstairs.

Jason was standing by the car, holding a bag in his hand, still emitting an aura that kept people at a distance.

As Aletta approached, he handed her the bag and said, “One portion for Lewis.”

Aletta took it and smiled, saying, “Thank you on behalf of Lewis.”

The next second, her cheek was pinched by Jason.

With a smirk, he said unceremoniously, “Next time, try not saying ‘thank you‘ to me!”

Aletta winced a bit from the pinch and glared at him, stubbornly retorting, “You’re not happy about me thanking

you. Why are you like this?”

Jason replied calmly, “It feels distant, and I don’t like it.”

“Oh, then I still say it next time.”

She teased him for a moment, then turned around and ran off before Jason could react.

Watching the fleeing figure of the young woman, Jason couldn’t help but smile. He was in a very good mood.

Perhaps Aletta herself hadn’t noticed that their relationship was growing increasingly intimate!

Back in the research room, Aletta shook the bag in her hand and said, “Lewis, let’s have lunch.”

Lewis didn’t even put down what he was working on. He just glanced at the things in her hand and said, “You can

eat it yourself.”

For him, eating was merely to fill his stomach. What could be more important than research?

Seeing his response, Aletta didn’t know what to say. She could only go to the rest area alone to have lunch.

After finishing lunch and tidying up, Aletta prepared to continue with her busy work. However, at that moment. The

receptionist from the research institute approached Lewis and said, “Boss, someone is looking for you.”

Upon hearing this, Lewis frowned. He seemed displeased at being interrupted in his research. Irritated, he asked,

“Who is it?”

“It’s me,” a slightly deep middle–aged voice, filled with a smile, came from the entrance.

Aletta found the voice somewhat familiar and instinctively looked in that direction. Walking in was a middle–aged

man wearing glasses, looking refined and wearing a simple white casual suit. He exuded an innate sense of

gentlemanliness.

Aletta’s eyes widened with surprise. The person who came was… Professor Albert!

Professor Albert was an instructor within the “World Medical League.” When she and her four seniors joined the

Medical League, they were assigned to Albert and placed under his supervision. He was not only a senior but also

their mentor.

Lewis also appeared surprised at seeing him. Rarely putting down his work, he asked, “Albert, why are you here?”

After entering the room, Professor Albert was about to answer when his gaze fell upon Aletta beside Lewis. He

paused for a moment before saying, “Coincidentally, I came to Germany to participate in a medical lecture and

unexpectedly gained an extra reward… Aletta, long time no see.”

Aletta greeted him with a smile, “Instructor, long time no see!”

Professor Albert nodded and said, “I was actually planning to contact you later. But since you’re here, it saves me

the trouble of finding you.”

Lewis realized that there was likely something important since he came. He said to the man, “Let’s talk in my

office?”

“No problem,” Professor Albert agreed.

The three of them then moved to the office and took their seats.

Professor Albert directly stated his purpose, saying, “In about a month, the World Medical League will hold a

medical seminar, and several groups of students will participate together. Our group has been selected this time.”

Lewis and Aletta had no objections upon hearing this. The Medical League held a large–scale medical seminar every

year.

However…

“Why is it earlier this year? If I remember correctly, the medical seminar was always held at the end of the year,”

Aletta voiced her doubts.

Professor Albert glanced at her and his tone turned more serious than before. “Originally, it was indeed scheduled

for the end of the year. But recently, there has been circulation of banned drugs in the market. Which the League’s

higher–ups take seriously, hence the earlier schedule.”

Upon hearing this, Aletta and Lewis exchanged a glance. But they didn’t mention the matter of the drugs within

their bodies to Professor Albert… It was strange.

Aletta had known Professor Albert for about the same time as her seniors. However, she found it easier to trust

them. While in the presence of Albert, she felt an inexplicable sense of distance. This feeling became even clearer

upon seeing him again.

Therefore, Aletta refrained from mentioning the issue of the drugs. within her body. Lewis naturally didn’t say

anything either, and they simply expressed that they would definitely participate on time.

“Alright then,” Albert said with a smile. He proceeded to discuss some research and development matters with

them.

Later in the evening, Albert checked the time on his wristwatch and regretfully said, “I have to catch a flight soon,

so I have to leave.”

“So soon?” Lewis was somewhat surprised.

Albert smiled, “Indeed! I originally wanted to have a meal with you, but I do have important matters to attend to…

But now that I’m leaving, you should be delighted, right? After all, no one will disturb your research.”

Unable to hold back, Aletta burst into laughter. Lewis, on the other hand, looked helpless. “I didn’t mean that.”

Albert teased, “Good, I don’t mind. We’ll catch up at the seminar… Oh, and remember to shave before you come.

You look older than me with that appearance.”

Lewis was teased for a while but then replied resignedly, “Got it.”

After some more banter, Albert left quickly. Once the door closed, Lewis looked at Aletta and said, “This conference

comes at a good time. With so many senior experts in the industry gathering together, it might help us progress

faster!”

Aletta nodded, unable to deny that. However, another worry emerged uncontrollably from the depths of her heart.

“I wonder if we can hold on until that time!”
