“What happened in the hallway?” My look went hard as | knew he was deliberately avoiding the answer. | knew if
it was truly something to worry about he’d have said something, so | didn’t pry any further and just nodded at
him. The subject was fairly quickly dropped.
It wasn’t long before the doctor returned with a tray full of dental equipment. | hadn't seen half of that stuff in
years so it was a bit strange to me. | opened my mouth when he askedto and the cloth pocket square was
removed leaving the missing tooth gap to be on show.
“Goddess, That looks sore! The doctor exclaimed as he quickly turned to get the local anesthetic injection ready.
He explained that he was going to numb my mouth in order to remove what could only be described as shrapnel.
“Sharp pinch...” | winced as | felt it slide into my already swollen gum but it quickly becnumb. He then took
what | would call a pair of pliers, of course they were medical grade, and began to roughly and efficiently pull the
remainder of my tooth out causing more blood to fill my mouth.
He placed a cylinder shaped gauze into the gap and toldto bite hard to stop the bleeding. He removed his
rubber gloves and wrote a few notes down in my folder before flipping back to the page which | know to be my
burns.

doctor to get to the work he wanted to do so that | could get to bed early.
Once done | said my thank yous and quickly made my way back to my own bedroom with Lewis in tow.
“Now are you sure you're ok?” | nodded my head and smiled at him before opening the door to the room.
Instantly | tensed up. | had the sreaction every single night. My body would betrayand my mind would
wonder to all the abuse I'd felt up here. | took in a deep breath and held it for a few seconds Id realized doing
this curved the panic attack that always began to rise.
“I'm ok, get ssleep. | closed the door and slid my back down the wooden panel | curled myself up into a ball
for comfort and focused on my breathing. After 10 minutes | was able to climb into bed.
Sleep metfairly quickly, but | didn’t realize I'd be plagued with nightmares. | was only out for an hour before |
woke myself up screaming in terror. Sweat was pouring from my head and my heart rate was most definitely
going too fast.
| hadn't realized anyone else was residing on this floor while King Josh was away but the royal beta was far too
quick getting to me. Perhaps he was residing in king Josh’s room for the tbeing. He barged into the mom at
top speed and ran straight over to me, head tumed to him in shock as | tried to cto terms with actually
being awake now.
“I'm ok...” Lewis shook his head at me, exasperation crept in his face as he placed his hands on my shoulders,
“Stop saying that when you're clearly not ok. Before | knew what was happening he broughtinto his chest,
his strong heartbeat met my ears and began to lullinto a sleepy trance once more. “You don’t have to be so
strong all the tyou know, what you've been through, | can’t imagine anyone being ok after everything.”
He was wrong though, | wasn’t trying to stay strong, | was just too weak to admit how damaged my mind had
become, | was too weak to say out loud
