There was no such thing as a peaceful existence. Instead, it was merely the dark things lurking in the
background, continuously breeding and rotting away.
Jack's expression darkened further, clearly taken aback by my calm and resolute demeanor. His eyes widened as
if searching for sweakness in me, but ultimately he could only lower his head in defeat, muttering a low
curse. "Do you think this will lead to your victory? I'll tell you, it's not that easy! I've been in this gfor years,
and you can't just takedown like that."
| smiled disdainfully and shook my head.
"Jack, don't you realize by now? True victory isn't achieved through power and status. It's attained through
justice and truth. Your crimes are exposed to the light, and no matter how much you struggle, you cannot escape
the law's judgment." With that, | turned to leave the prison, each step filled with newfound conviction.

| made my way to a nearby café and called Ethan.
"Ethan, | just left the prison. Jack finally revealed his true colors, but | managed to maintain my composure. His
words, though painful, have only strengthened my resolve to uncover the truth."
My voice held a barely detectable tremor, but it was mostly filled with determination and certainty.
"What did he say?" On the other end of the line, Ethan's voice was low and concerned, clearly expecting that this
conversation would be anything but easy.
| took a deep breath and summarized Jack's despicable remarks.
"He tried to stain my mother's nwith lies, attempting to shake my resolve, but | won't let him succeed. |
know it's not true. My mother was the purest, strongest woman in the world."

"Well done, Eve." Ethan's voice brimmed with approval, and even through the phone, I could feel his support.
"You're far stronger than you realize. As for those slanders, we'll shatter them with evidence."
After offering scomforting words, he asked where | was.
Before long, he arrived at the café, and seeing him again filledwith anticipation.
Yet, the pain in my heart lingered. | knew sthings might be just as he said.
"Maybe in sways he deceived me, but he wouldn't lie about this. Jack may really have been exploiting my
mother."
If he could useas a business asset, then how could he not involve my mother in his schemes for his own
benefit?

"I've had a nagging suspicion that he forced my mother to do sterrible things," | admitted.
He would send his wife to the beds of others in order to secure deals and contracts. What kind of beast could
do such nasty things?
