Chapter 234
"Yvette's already been taken in. Are you still trying to convinceto take the fall for her?" Helen said angrily.
Selena wore an awkward expression, having been called out, yet she remained stubborn and said, "Helen, given
how things have escalated, you should be more sensible. It's a special tright now. If your sister-in-law wasn't
pregnant, I'd do everything to protect you, you are my own daughter after all. But things are different now; she's
carrying the only heir of the Flynn family, so | must protect her. But don't worry, even if you take the blfor
Yvette, your brother and | will do everything in our power to get you out."
Helen scoffed, "Mom, you've already giventhis whole speech the last tyou visited. Have you forgotten
what happened after you said these words?" It was all so ironic to her. From the moment she entered the
detention center until now, when she was in prison, her mom, Selena, had only visited twice. The first tshe

It had only been days since her suicide attempt, and she had just been discharged from the hospital when
Selena crushing over again. Helen wasn't in the mood to hear any more of her strange reasoning. She stood
up, ready to leave, "Mom, if you've cjust to talk about Yvette, then maybe you shouldn't cat all."
When Selena got home, she sighed deeply, wanting to ask Xavier about any progress made. Yet, before she
could speak, Xavier interrogated her. "Mom, did you go to see my sister again today? Was it to make her take the

haven't forgotten to let her be the scapegoat? Last time, you nearly cost her life, and now you still try to
persuade her? | miss the old you, who doted on Helen, not the person you've become, only concerned about the
child in Yvette's belly."
After all the turmoil in recent days, Selena was already on the verge of a breakdown. Hearing her son's
discontent only added to her frustration. "Fine! You all say it's my fault. Would | have to do all this if not for your

Xavier returned to his study, his head throbbing with pain. So many things had happened recently; even he
couldn't handle it all. He had to rescue Yvette. The only hope now lay with Yasmine. As long as she didn't press
charges, there was a good chance Yvette could be released.
By evening, as the last rays of sunlight appeared, Xavier arrived at the counseling office at Aurelith University.
The door was open, and as he stepped inside, he found Yasmine looking at him with a puzzled expression. "Is
there something you need, Mr. Flynn?" Yasmine had a feeling that he certainly had something to discuss.
Xavier sat down, looking a bit embarrassed and said, "I know what I'm about to ask might sound really stupid,
but | still want to say it. Yasmine, could you possibly let Yvette out just this once?"
"Hah, Xavier, are you kidding me? How on earth could | let her go?"
"Xavier, think for a second, will you? If Yvette was the one harmed that day, and | was the attacker, would you
plead forin front of her?" Yasmine sneered coldly.
Xavier stared intensely at Yasmine, "Yasmine, this is a special time, she's carrying my child."
"Carrying your child? Then you should make sure to protect her well. But what does that have to do with me?
She hurtand needs to pay the price," Yasmine shouted angrily. Her expression softened, and suddenly, she
looked seriously at Xavier and said, "Although | did gather evidence of his crime, | haven't had the chance to
hand it over to the police before she was arrested. In other words, Yvette's capture had nothing to do with her.
Xavier's eyes widened in disbelief. How could it be possible that Yasmine wasn't the one who reported her? Then
who could it have been? "But besides you, no one else has a reason to get involved," Xavier frowned deeply.
Yasmine smirked ironically, "Xavier, don't forget, Yvette has more enemies-like Irene, who wants to use her as a
scapegoat."
It suddenly clicked for Xavier. Oh right, Irene! He recalled Yvette's words and realized that Irene was scared
Yasmine would eventually trace back to her. That's why she schemed to make Yvette take the fall.

Xavier sighed and spoke to Yasmine with a hint of apology, "Yasmine, what Yvette did before was wrong, and
Helen is also really sorry to you. Helen's now in a mental hospital, and Yvette has been taken to the police
station. Considering Yvette's unborn child, could you possibly provide a letter of forgiveness. It might lead to a
lighter sentence."
Yasmine refused outright, "I won't write a letter of forgiveness for her."
"Yasmine, |..." Xavier wanted to continue pleading for leniency.
"Xavier, since we're divorced, isn't it better to disappear from each other's lives? Why linger like a ghost? I'm
truly fed up." Her brows tightened in frustration. She was tired of constantly dealing with Helen and Yvette's
interference, trying to sabotage her. Annoyed by Xavier, who decided to act all loving after their divorce was
finalized. It made her dislike him even

more.
Yasmine walked over to the door and opened it, then said to Xavier, "Mr. Flynn, you've asked all your questions.
You can leave now."
Despite Yasmine's cold indifference, Xavier felt utterly helpless. As the door slammed shut in his face, he gazed
up at Yasmine's aloof expression before finally turning away and leaving.
Inside the police station, the questioning was much gentler due to her pregnancy. Pregnant women aren't held,
so Yvette only needed to cin for questioning. Still, the environment was intimidating since it was a police
station.
After all the questions, the police unexpectedly took her to an observation room where Xavier was waiting. In a
rush of emotion, she ran over to him, "Xavier, did you cto takehome?"
Xavier nodded reassuringly, "Yvette, don't be scared. I'm here with you."
In the counseling office at Aurelith University, Yasmine was working on her thesis. She wasn't done yet when
Yonas walked in. She didn't need him to say anything to know he was there for his therapy session again.
"Is today's session going to be hypnosis again?" Yonas asked nervously. The memories of that day were still
fresh-he almost fet his secrets slip.
Yasmine understood his concerns but had no intention of letting him off easy. "You need to complete this set of
tests first." She handed a three-page test to Yonas, insisting that he at least finish half.
Yonas was working on the test problems, calm and collected, as if he didn't really care about them. He handed
the completed test to Yasmine, and it had only taken him fifteen minutes
