Mya got a bit scared when she saw Fred looking all serious. She tried to act like she didn't hear him, hoping he would drop the whole thing if she stayed quiet. But Fred wasn't planning to let her off easy.
Curled up in the corner, Mya looked a bit silly. Fred lifted her shirt and saw the soft parts spilling over her pants. He'd seen different kinds of people before, some thin and some with curves, but Mya was a bit plumper than the others.
"Your family feeds you well, huh?" Fred remarked, eyeing her figure. Mya showed no signs of illness.
Mya proudly puffed out her chest. "Of course! | have like five servings of Mediterranean rice every day. These curves are all thanks to the amazing cooking at Madelyn's house. Too bad Madelyn's husband, the big jerk, doesn't let me eat there anymore.

At first, he thought she might have some secret agenda in getting close to him. However, as he got to know her better, Fred figured out that Mya was truly naive and dim-witted.
Fred's deputy interrupted, "Sir, rush hour is starting. We might hit some traffic." "Is your stomach still hurting?" Fred asked Mya, his brows knitting together.
Feeling the shift in Fred's mood, Mya swiftly hid her smile and retreated a bit.
"I'm fine now. Could you drop me home?" Mya said timidly, looking down and fiddling with her index finger.
"Why the hurry?" asked Fred.
"I got yelled at by my mom for getting home late last time. | gotta make it before it gets dark," Mya explained, holding her belly as a twinge of pain zipped through. She toughed it out without letting it show.
"Did you take pill last time?" Fred asked, referring to contraception.
"Yes, | did," Mya nodded.
Since Mya's family got lucky with money, she started taking pills to "boost her brainpower.” She knew she wasn't the smartest cookie around, so if a pill could help, she was all for taking it every day.
"Sir, should we proceed to the hospital?" Fred's deputy inquired.

"Yes, Sir." Mya protested immediately, "I don't want to go to The Deli. | want to go home." "Aren't you hungry?" Fred asked.
‘I'm hungry. I'd left the house an hour ago and only ate an ice cream cone and a glass of milk. That is all." Mya thought to herself.
Mya dug through her purse and found only fifty dollars remaining. She said, "I'll have to eat less today; | only have fifty bucks left.
My mom took away my allowance as punishment." "Is that all you have?" Fred reached into the inside pocket of his coat, pulled out a leather wallet, and handed Mya a wad of cash.
"Take this. If it's not enough, let me know." Startled, Mya immediately refused, "I can't accept that. We agreed that I'd treat you this time, and | have just enough to order a few dishes. | can eat less." "So, if it's not money you're after, what is it?" Fred's voice turned icy.
Mya held her belly as she felt another twinge of pain. She thought, 'Why has he become so intimidating all of a sudden? Talking to him feels like walking on eggshells!"
