Chapter 588 Fluttering Heart

Avery was in a daze the entire time as she walked out of City Hall with the brand-new marriage certificate in her

hands.

We're finally married. We're now a legally wedded couple.

Cayden turned around to look at her.

Although it was noon, the weather was quite pleasant. The sky was slightly cloudy, providing them with a cool

respite from the heat.

Occasionally, a breeze would ruffle Avery's hair, causing strands of hair to dance across her face. Cayden could not

resist the urge to tuck a wisp of Avery's hair behind her ear.

His long and slender fingers were like a painter's brush as he gently traced them across her brows and eyes.

Like a blooming flower, the sweet smile on her face unfurled and filled Cayden's heart to the brim.

Even if I traveled far and wide and experience a riot of colors, I would never get tired of looking at Avery. She

makes my heart flutter every single time I look at her.

At the thought, he suddenly hugged his pregnant wife and spun in a circle. He smiled from ear to ear as he stared

at her. “Avery, we're married now. We're now a legitimate couple.”

Flushing, Avery hugged his neck in embarrassment when she noticed the people around them staring. “Let me

down! I must be heavy.”

Cayden continued to carry her and headed for the parking lot. Chuckling lightly, he said, “You're not heavy at all. In

fact, I think you've lost some weight. We should get Lorraine to prepare you more nourishing food when we return.”

Smiling bitterly, Avery could only swallow her objections.

She gazed at Cayden's face, marveling at how the top-tier and superior man had become her husband today.

His face was exceptionally handsome, and it exuded youth and vigor.

When he narrowed his mesmerizing eyes, they looked cold and harsh, but he gazed at her with such tender love

and affection.

“I don't know how many women will run after you in the future,” Avery said as she looked at him with a soft smile.

Cayden grinned. “I'll make sure I take care of every single one of them.”

After looking around the parking lot and seeing that they were alone, Avery slid her hands into Cayden's shirt. Her

hands were like eels as they slipped past the gap where Cayden had left two of his shirt buttons undone and placed

them firmly on his chest.

Cayden sucked in a sharp breath as he stared at her. Through gritted teeth, he muttered, “Behave yourself, or I'll

—”

Hugging his neck, Avery replied, “We're legally married...”

“I'll teach you a lesson later on.” Cayden lowered his head and kissed her.

Spotting his car, he used the remote to unlock the doors and turned on the car's air conditioning.

Cayden was eager to devour Avery whole.

He strode toward the car with Avery in his arms. After opening the car doors, he carefully placed her in the

passenger seat.

The air conditioning had already expelled the heat and it was pleasantly cool inside the car.

Cayden entered the car himself and shut the door with a thud. Leaning over, he brought Avery into his embrace

and began to kiss her fervently.

Breathing heavily from the kiss, Avery gazed at the naked desire reflected in his eyes. She touched his skin which

was taut with emotion and felt as if Cayden was close to taking his own clothes off. Bashful and somewhat angry,

she said, “I'm already in this state and you still wish to ravish me...”

Cayden had only intended to scare her a little. In the end, he just embraced her tenderly.

Chuckling in a low voice, he hugged her and rubbed his fingers over her delicate lips. “Who was the one who

seduced me earlier on? Hmm? You changed your tune so quickly.”

Tilting her head, Avery gazed at his amused look. His eyes were filled with endless love and tolerance. She bit her

lip, finally feeling more at ease as she quietly nestled in his arms.

Avery felt incredibly comfortable in his embrace. She detected a faint scent of pine, and it made her want to linger

there forever and never resurface.

Cayden pressed her head against his chest and muttered in a low voice, “Behave yourself, or I'll have to continue

teaching you a lesson.”

Avery hugged Cayden's waist and nuzzled her face against his chest. She whispered, “We just got married, but

you're already threatening me. Are you going to become more aggressive as time passes?”

Cayden couldn't hold back his laughter. “You'd better treat me well if you don't want that to happen.”

“Mmph...” Avery hugged his waist and looked into his obsidian eyes. She considered the matter seriously and said,

“Cayden, I'm truly grateful to have met you. We've been together for so long and you've always treated me well. No

one else has ever treated me as well as you do. Sometimes I really don't know how I can ever repay you. As you

know, I'm not very good with sweet words.”

Cayden wrapped his arms around her tenderly. “Silly girl. I cherish and love you so much. I don't need you to repay

me at all. If you are happy, I will be happy too. Promise me you'll always stay with me for the rest of our lives and

never leave me no matter what happens. This is the greatest reward you can bestow upon me.”

“Mm.” Reassured, Avery felt blissful as she nestled into his arms.

Although their embrace appeared to be no different from usual, it was distinctly different.

Their intense love for each other that could never be diminished was still the same, but the only difference was they

had tied the knot. Hence, they would move forward as a couple from now onwards.

Meanwhile, after finding out that Evangeline may be their biological daughter, William and Claire hurriedly brought

the former to the hospital and secretly took a DNA test.

The hospital that carried out the test was a reputable public hospital in Ackleton.

Thanks to William's identity which provided them with special privileges, the entire process was hassle free.

The person who oversaw the test was the chief physician of the laboratory.

Clad in branded women's clothing and expensive jewelry, Evangeline was well-behaved and cooperated as they

took the test.

Claire was heartbroken when she noticed how Evangeline was not used to the luxurious clothing.

The chief physician obtained a few strands of Claire's and Evangeline's hair and instructed the nurse to take the

samples to the laboratory.

In order to ensure the accuracy of the test results, the couple took the doctor's suggestion and had their blood and

Evangeline's taken.

Claire waited until the nurse carried the samples into the laboratory before impatiently asking the chief physician,

“Dr. Sollo, when will the lab results come back?”

Felix replied respectfully, “Mr. Lambert and Mrs. Lambert, the lab results will be available tomorrow at the latest.”

William nodded in response. “Okay. Dr. Sollo, please inform us at the earliest opportunity.”

Following that, the members of the Lambert family left the room.

Just as they reached the entrance of the hospital, Nicole bumped into her manager, Wendy.

Using Wendy as an excuse, Nicole told her parents and Evangeline to head back first while she kept her manager

company during her checkup.

“You mustn't stay out too late.” Claire was constantly concerned about Nicole. She was worried that Nicole would

feel dejected after discovering that Evangeline was her biological daughter.

“Okay, Mom,” Nicole replied meekly. She waited for her parents and Evangeline to put some distance between

them before quickly donning a large pair of sunglasses. She then hurried into the chief physician's office.
