Chapter 34 Ms. Lloyd, May I Have a Moment?

“Not sure, but I’ve got my target now, Elva’s friend who will come back from abroad this evening” said Ervin with a

big smile.

Derrick pulled his hand excitedly. “Really, Ervin? Seraphina is going back home?”

Ervin could see his brother’s joyful tears. He felt touched, too,

For all these years, they had searched thousands of places and spent lots of money to look for Seraphina.

They hadn’t seen her in 20 years. They had assumed that she was dead,

Derrick had just walked over when he realized that the atmosphere was a bit awkward.

Elva had changed her clothes and was sitting next to Thomas, coaxing him to laugh.

Elva’s eyes looked sheepishly to either side when she saw Derrick approach.

Claudia had a faint smile on her face. When Derrick met her smiling eyes, he silently stopped.

“What took you so long.” Thomas asked seriously, “How’s the surveillance check going?”

It was suddenly quiet, so quiet that even a pin dropping to the ground could be heard.

Elva grabbed the corner of her jacket and stared pitifully at Derrick. She said in a soft voice with a broken choke,

“Derrick…”

Rosalie held her breath as well.

“I watched the surveillance.” Derrick looked to Claudia, and continued in a lower voice, “Elva’s right. Ms. Lloyd

pushed her.”

Elva relieved.

Thomas looked at Claudia with a serious look on his face.

He hadn’t realized that this little girl, so innocent judging from her appearance, had such an evil heart.

Derrick suddenly lost his tongue.

Turning to Claudia, he said difficultly, “Ms. Lloyd, may I have a moment?”

Claudia sighed tersely and shook her head, smiling attractively with coldness, “No. Now that you’ve checked the

surveillance, nothing I say can change the results, can it?”

Cold shivers ran down her back. The people and air in this room made every cell of her feel icy cold.

She just didn’t think that even someone as righteous as Derrick would be so blatantly biased.

“I thought Mr. Friedan was different from the others.” Claudia’s smile didn’t reach the bottom of her eyes. “Other

people might lie about the surveillance, but not you, because you’re a lawyer.

“But I forgot that you are a good lawyer.”

A lawyer who can defend the victim as well as escort the perpetrator.

The pupils of Derrick’s eyes snapped open.

He had prepared a huge sum of money for compounding, but he didn’t realize that Claudia didn’t even give him a

chance to do so.

It seemed that she was not blaming him, but in fact, she blamed him for every word.

She was right. He was a lawyer, but here and now, he just wanted to be a protective brother.

“I’m sorry,” he said inwardly.

Derrick lowered his eyes, his long lashes covering the brightness of them.

Claudia stood up with the box in her arms, her face tired and dark, and she averted her gaze, heading toward the

door to the hall.

Elva stood still out of guilt.

Watching Claudia’s distant back, Rosalie marveled once again at Elva’s influence.

Derrick’s tolerance of Elva was sick.

Obviously, it was Elva’s problem. However, Derrick was so protective that he just lied in front of everyone.

Just as Claudia was about to leave, Thomas spoke, “Ms. Lloyd, since you pushed Elva, apologize to Elva, and we can

let it go.”

Thomas’ words made Derrick blush.

Elva also gave Derrick a sheepish look.

She knew that Derrick had already seen the surveillance and knew the truth. What he said was just to make her

look good. She had achieved her goal.

But now, what if Thomas’ words drove Claudia crazy?

She knew that Claudia dared to challenge Edmond.

“Dad, why don’t we let it go now? I’m fine,” Elva started to intercede, looking over at Claudia as she did so.

Claudia turned around, a sneer curling her lips.

Thomas, however, did not listen to the advice and looked at Derrick. “Since you checked the surveillance and

determined that Ms. Lloyd pushed Elva, you should have sent her to the police as you said before. What are you

waiting for?”

His words embarrassed Derrick.

He was trying to defend his sister, but he didn’t want to hurt Claudia.

Since he already knew the truth, it was even more impossible to do anything worse to Claudia.

Looking at Claudia standing there all alone, hearing his father’s harsh words, he felt a twinge of sympathy for

Claudia.

The video showed that she just wanted the box, and Elva was clearly trying to make things difficult for her.

Now there wasn’t only Elva who was bullying her. In fact, the entirety of the Friedan family was doing so.

Derrick suddenly felt that the card Ervin gave him burned his hand.

He looked at Thomas, wished to speak but stopped on a second

thought.

Elva panicked and scrambled, and hurriedly pulled Thomas’ arm. “Dad, forget it. Seraphina will be here at any

minute. Just let her go.”

“Why?” Thomas gave her a meaningful look. “Everyone needs to apologize for their wrong-doings. Am I right, Ms.

Lloyd?”

Meeting Thomas’ scrutinizing gaze, Claudia smiled softly with sarcasm, “You’re right, but am I really the one who

did wrong?”

She didn’t know why Thomas stopped her.

Just now she thought Thomas wasn’t as unsympathetic as he was rumored to be. Was she going to prove the rumor

was right?

Because of Waldron, she didn’t want to think too badly of the Friedan family,

She tolerated what happened today for Waldron’s sake.

But that didn’t mean she was a doormat.

Thomas nodded at her question. “Well, you know whether you pushed her or not, don’t you?”

“I didn’t,” Claudia subconsciously spoke out, “Your son is lying.”

Thomas smiled, “You’re right, Derrick does lic.”
