Chapter 1270 Being Told About Colton’s Situation
After parting ways with Chloe, Roxanna tiptoed toward Nicole's ward, contemplating whether she should inform her
about Colton. Eventually, she succumbed to the urge and lifted her head, gently knocking on the door before
entering.
Nicole seemed to be asleep as she lay quietly on the bed. Several things around the table were stained dark red,
and her complexion was so pale that she almost seemed lifeless.
Roxanna gently approached her and began to clean the blood-stained objects while struggling to hold back her
tears. While Nicole appeared increasingly drowsy, the harsh reality was that she had deteriorated to the point of no
return.
"Roxanna, you came."

concealing her genuine emotions and ensuring Nicole's worry was kept at bay. "Yes, I came to see you," she replied
cheerfully, her voice masking her sorrow.
Meanwhile, Nicole struggled to curl a corner of her lips into a faint smile. Even this simple act seemed to drain her
energy, yet she pushed herself to smile to alleviate the concerns of those around her. "I heard that Evelyn came
just now," she murmured, her gaze drifting aimlessly toward the ceiling.
Roxanna paused in her movements momentarily before resuming her tidying. Nonchalantly, she responded as
though nothing had happened, "Yes, she was. Isn't it odd how she suspects we were somehow connected to Mr.
Gardner spending his nights at the nightclub instead of returning home? She even approached us about this
matter." She believed that presenting the situation more casually might ease Nicole's sadness.
However, Nicole's eyes widened briefly, then returned to their previous calm state as she spoke, her tone as though
inquiring about a trivial matter. "When did it start?"
"Hmm… The day you and Mr. Gardner signed the divorce agreement." Roxanna paused her actions, her gaze
resting on Nicole with a quiet intensity.
After a slow exhalation, Nicole mustered a smile. "Since we're divorced, I hold no right to concern myself with this
matter. Furthermore, in my condition, how could I possibly seek him out? If Evelyn returns, tell her this is her
concern, not mine."
Nodding obediently, Roxanna observed that she didn't seem overly affected by the news. Nevertheless, her distress
deepened, knowing that Nicole must be suppressing her emotions.
"Roxanna, please give me some time alone." Nicole tilted her head, smiling at her as if reassuring her.
Roxanna sighed quietly and brought the trash out without saying anything, but stifled sobs reached her ears as the
door closed. Feeling helpless and sorrowful, she leaned against the door, hoping to catch any fragment of Nicole's
voice. "When will such days come to an end?"

Meanwhile, Nicole was curled under her covers, and her tears fell incessantly like beads without strings. She had
never anticipated such a change in Colton after their divorce. Moreover, she had imagined he and Evelyn would live
blissfully together, but now… What could she possibly do?
"So, how is it? How did Nicole react?" Chloe brought a bowl of tonic with her to Nicole's ward. When she saw
Roxanna's behavior, she surmised that Roxanna had shared the news with Nicole.
Roxanna shook her head. "I don't know. Perhaps, my presence affected her response." After seeing the tonic bowl
in Chloe's hand, she paused momentarily, suggesting, "Take it inside later."
Chloe nodded as she watched her retreating form like a walking corpse. Then, she turned to glance at the closed
door as an unknown emotion flashed inside her eyes. Oh, Nicole…
On the other hand, Evelyn got inside the car and returned to the villa. While gripping her phone tightly, she
hesitated before gradually typing a message. 'Nicole is still alive.'
