Chapter 234
The kitchen walls and ceiling were all messed up, and a few pots were burned.
‘No worries, I can sort it out myself, I shook my head
“You want to take on more stuff yourself? I’ve got people who can help, but you’re saying no? Neil
frowned.
I’m really swamped right now; I’ve never been this busy before. All the home stuff has landed on my
shoulders, with my parents who used to back me up, one in a coma, the other in hot water.
I hesitated for a moment, then finally agreed, “Alright, I’ll be back after work, probably around six”
I’ve been running around all morning for my dad’s affairs, dealing with a bunch of relationship stuff. It
was a real mess
Neil finally relaxed a bit, “Alright, I’ll tidy up the kitchen and leave you alone as promised”
I was taken aback, I didn’t have time for all this right now.
But I casually pointed out, “Neil, this issue with my dad, it’s probably Bonnie and Gloria messing around
behind the scenes and setting him up. And the reason Bonnie’s doing all this is probably because of
you.”
Neil’s relaxed expression tightened again, a cold light flashing in his eyes, “Hmm, I know. That’s why if
there’s anything you need help with, I won’t turn you
down.”
I was silent for a few seconds, then said, “I don’t need you to help me with anything else, just one thing.
Can you help me find Russel? I haven’t been able to reach him since last night. I sent Mitch to the
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtDawson family, but he was turned away” I looked at Nell earnestly: “Can you?
If Neil wanted to find Russel, he definitely had a way
But as soon as he heard Russel’s name, Neil’s expression changed. He seemed annoyed.
I got the message. “It’s okay If you dont want to help, you don’t have to.”
Neil coldly asked. “You want him to help? He didn’t contact you when your dad was in trouble?”
I sighed, “I guess his parents stopped him. He said he found some clues that would help my dad and
told me to wait for him, but he never showed.” ‘Oh, so it was him you were waiting for in the rain last
night.” Neil tried to control his jealousy, but I could feel it.
I replied as if it was the most natural thing in the world. “Yes, isn’t that normal?”
Neil gave a cold laugh and waved his hand dismissively, “Sure, it’s normal. But it’s not normal to ask
your ex-husband to help find your current boyfriend.”
I was helpless. This guy said I could ask for his help, but when I really asked, he refused.
It was okay if he didnt want to help. I wasn’t disappointed. I never really expected him to help me in the
first place. Given how my dad treated him in the past, I was sure he held a grudge.
As for Russel. I wanted Neil’s help, but he wasn’t interested. But he was all in when I asked him to help
find someone to clean the kitchen. When I got home in the evening, he had already brought a cleaning
lady over.
I gave him a look, got the message, and didn’t say anything: I just went right in.
I thought only the cleaning lady would come in to clean the kitchen, and I didn’t expect Neil to come in
too. As the CEO of Whitmore Co., he has a ton of work to handle every day, but now he’s here at my
place watching the cleaning lady clean the kitchen
“You go do your thing, I’ll check it out when she’s done,” I poured a glass of water, sipped it, and told
Neil.
Neil ignored me, just watched the cleaning lady busy in the kitchen, very focused.
If he didn’t listen to me, so be it.
After I finished my water, I opened up my laptop to do some work in the living room.
Harold hasn’t come back yet; I don’t know how things are going on his end.
As I was working, Neil’s figure appeared behind the sofa, and he said coldly, “You should really check
your company’s finances
“Why?” I turned around and asked.
“The financial data doesn’t match your company’s actual profit and loss for this quarter. Someone must
be cooking the books. Neil sat next to me. accurately pointing out the problem with the data on the
screen
After hearing him, I was nothing but amazed.
“How do you know so much about my company?” I couldn’t help but ask curiously.
“I was married to you for five years. I know your company well. I’ve been keeping an eye on it these
past two years, maybe not as detailed as before, but I have a general idea” Nell looked at me, “You still
have a lot to learn. You’ve wasted too much time on me to the point where you’ve neglected your own
company
His serious lecturing made me feel guilty i awkwardly avoided his gaze, but I agreed with what he said.
Suddenly, Neil added, ‘But, if you hadn’t divorced me, I could have helped you with all these problems.”
I was silently annoyed at Neil. I didn’t want to be his accessory. If I were to be anyone’s accessory, it
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmwould only be my parents”.
I know I’m not capable enough right now, but as long as I work hard, I can improve
‘Thanks for the heads up. I’ll check the finances.” I didn’t respond to Neil’s divorce comment: I just
thanked him for his advice.
“Hmm.” Neil responded, but he didn’t leave. Just sat next to me.
I didn’t want to continue working in front of him, so I closed the file and intentionally started a light-
hearted TV show, waiting for Harold to come back.
Neil never liked these boring TV shows. Every time he saw me watching, he’d give me a disapproving
look.
But today, he watched quietly for a long time and even laughed at some parts.
I felt a bit uncomfortable and was about to turn off the show.
“Let’s keep watching, it’s quite interesting.” Neil leaned back on the sofa, legs crossed, looking very
relaxed.
“I don’t think its good.” I said, and closed my laptop.
The cleaning lady came over and politely said, “Mr. Whitmore, I’ve cleaned the kitchen. You can go
check it out now.”
After hearing that, Neil got up, went to the kitchen to check things out, and I followed him.
She had cleaned up pretty well, except for the burnt pot that was yet to be replaced.
“Why are there still stains on the wall?” Neil suddenly pointed at the wall and asked.
That might be hard to get rid of, unless we repaint it, the housekeeper replied
Just as I was about to speak, Neil turned to look at me, I’ll get someone to repaint it tomorrow, and I’ll
also send you a new pot.
I shook my head, “No need, just leave it be. I don’t have time to cook anyway.”
“I don’t like owing people, so it’s settled.” Neil completely ignored my objection.
