Chapter 181
I was speechless.
Just as I thought, Neil wasn’t one to take a hit without giving one back. I genuinely thought he’d just got
beaten up, and the guy walked away without a scratch.
“Why were they fighting? I thought you said Raymon went to apologize to Neil?” Alicia appeared
confused.
Cooper, having been a bystander, surely knew what went down, but he seemed hesitant to speak and
even glanced at me.
That got me a little scared. I was seriously worried he’d say it was because of me again.
Cooper cleared his throat and said, “Raymon said some nasty things about Irene. Nell had a few drinks
in him, so he lost it.”
I just facepalmed, speechless. Cooper might as well not have said anything.
Now everyone was looking at me with different expressions on their faces.
“When Rena was crazy about him, why didn’t he appreciate it?” Stella, always direct, said angrily.
Mitch quickly tried to calm her down, “Honey, don’t get mad. It was Neil’s fault in the past. Hasn’t he
paid the price now? Let’s not bash him; he’s already injured”
Stella just rolled her eyes.
Sean then chimed in and said, “I seem to remember seeing Mr. Whitmore in the tabloids with various
actresses a few years ago, but I’m not sure if it was
true or not.”
Sean was very calm when he said this as if it was just casual conversation.
“You remember correctly, Neil was never quiet back then. After his divorce, these past two years, he’s
actually settled down. He really brought it on himself.” Alicia didn’t mind Sean adding fuel to the fire. In

Mitch and Cooper had intended to keep me here to console Nel, so he could recover. Instead, it turned
into everyone else gossiping about Neil.
Both of them were extremely awkward. After all, they were the ones who sided against me with Neil.
After a while, it was already late, and Neil was finally brought back.
He was now in a hospital gown, with bandages wrapped around his head. He looked weak, but his
eyes were very clear.
Mitch and Cooper immediately followed into the room, asking the nurse about his condition.
After the nurse had given her instructions, she left.
We were all standing around Neil’s bed, but only Mitch and Cooper seemed genuinely concerned.
As for me, I wasn’t worried about him, I was just concerned about how to explain to my parents if I got
home late.
In my past life, when I was in the late stages of cancer, didn’t Neil not care about me? Aside from
discussing our divorce, he hardly ever saw me.
Remembering the pain I had suffered, I even began to regret coming here today.
“Neil, you’ll have to stay in the hospital for a while. What are you going to do about the company?”
Mitch asked.
“I’ll delegate to the other executives for now, don’t worry” Neil’s voice was a bit hoarse, probably
because of the alcohol.
Mitch nodded, then thoughtfully poured Neil a glass of water. Stella, Alicia, Sean, and I were just
standing there like ornaments.
This was the first time Neil had been so seriously injured, didn’t Russel know? Why hadn’t he come?
My mind started racing. In situations like these, Russel should be concerned about Neil’s condition.
This hospital was where Russel worked.
And Neil’s Injury was to the head, which was exactly Russel’s field of expertise.
“I have to go, Neil. Take care of yourself, and hope you recover soon.” I put aside my messy thoughts,
said a few words to Neil, and then asked Alicia and the others to take me home.
Neil stopped me, “Wait!”
I looked at him, puzzled.
Neil looked pale after losing blood from his injuries.
His brows were distinct, his pupils deep. If you only looked at his face, he looked like a character from a
black and white comic.
He obviously had something to say but was hesitant.
He wouldn’t bring up our issues in front of so many people. Knowing him, he probably wanted to ask
why I didn’t show up like we agreed.
I didn’t want any unnecessary misunderstandings between us, so I was about to explain when several
people rushed in.
“Neil, what happened?” Bonnie was at the forefront. She went straight to the bed and asked anxiously.
Nell looked at her, his frowned brow furrowed even more, and the coldness and disgust in his eyes
were clear.
Even though I had seen his attitude towards Bonnie before, I couldn’t help but sigh when i saw it again.
The contrast was too clear
“What happened? How did you get into a fight?” Louis asked worriedly. “You didn’t tell me anything. If
Russel hadn’t told me, I wouldn’t have known Russel knew it, and he told Louls.
hapter
“I’m fine. I just ran into an inarticulate idiot, and I couldn’t help myself.” Neil’s attitude towards Louis was
decent, and the atmosphere eased a bit
“Is your head injured? Does it still hurt?” Bonnie was very concerned; she leaned in to check Neil’s
injuries.
Kate started to speak, “Nell, you don’t have to treat Bonnie like this. She ran over here as soon as she

clothes.”
Then she glanced at me, “Some people are better at putting on a show. They came to visit early I
thought she had really given up Neil.”
I raised my eyebrows, and I seemed to understand more and more why Bonnie and she got along so
well, it turned out they both liked to provoke.
“What are you talking about?” Stella immediately raised her voice, “Mitch and Cooper asked Rena to
come. Without her, Neil might not have cooperated with the treatment, making things worse. You let
Bonnie try to persuade him. See if he’ll listen.”
Mitch immediately chimed in, “Right, I asked her to come.”
“Kate, there’s no need to target Irene. Your unreasonable behavior is annoying” Cooper said coldly.
Kate’s face immediately turned pale. Clearly, she’d been hit hard by the sharp criticism
“Mitch, Cooper, my sister is just worried about Neil, and she’s not targeting Irene.” Bonnie immediately
came to Kate’s defense.
“All right, you guys carry on, I’ll be heading out. Ali, y’all heading out too?” The things I wanted to say,
Stella and the gang have already said them, and I don’t need to add fuel to the fre
Alicia gave Sean a nod, answering, “Sure thing, we’ll walk you home.”
Neil was looking at me all quietly Obviously he didnt get the answer to his question earlier. It must be
driving him up the wall.
So, Alicia, Sean, and I took off first On our way home, Alicia got a text from Stella
Then she excitedly told me, “This is hilarious Bonnie and her crew got kicked out by Neil. She’s even
crying her eyes out.”
“You guys don’t like her or something?” Sean suddenly popped the question.
“Of course, who’d like a homewrecker?” Alicia shot back, not mincing her words.
