Rosalynn’s smile faltered and she asked, “Wait, did I hear you correctly? Eleanor pleaded with Brian on
your behalf, and that’s why you’re still employed?”
“Indeed. My niece is Eleanor’s assistant. I caught wind of Brian’s fondness for Eleanor online, so I
reached out to my niece. To my surprise, it worked! The very next day, he instructed us to resume our
duties.” Wesley grinned with glee.
Rosalynn’s chest tightened as the revelation sank in.
Two days ago, he had said he would listen to her and not fire the construction team. She felt a wave of
absurdity wash over her.
