Chapter 982
Each of the guests left after that. When Stella passed by Keegan, she whispered, "I need to go to the bathroom.
Wait for me." Keegan touched the back of her hand with his to show that he understood.
He did not have much to drink today; the alcohol content of the drinks was relatively low. He was not fully drunk but
did not feel very well either. However, he remembered what Stella told him and obediently waited for her in the
corridor.
When Howard came out of the guest room, he saw Keegan standing at the end of the corridor, getting some air. He
then decided to walk over and said, "Keegan, long time no see."
Keegan froze and did not answer him. Howard did not find it awkward. Instead, he continued, "I was busy a while
ago and couldn't attend Mrs. Kane Sr.'s birthday party. How is she?"
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtStella just came out of the restroom when she heard Howard's voice. 'Sounds like they're exchanging pleasantries.
The birthday party was over months ago.' Stella did not want to interrupt the two men, so she stood out of their
sight and listened quietly.
"She's fine," Keegan answered concisely.
Howard continued, "Your mom invited my mom for tea a few days ago. I heard she went to the hospital two days
ago. The doctors said she had a cyst. I noticed she had lost a lot
of weight. She kept talking about you, though. Talking about how she worries if you're being taken care of."
Stella's expression was hard to read at the mention of Dahlia. She had been so busy with work that she had not
heard from her for a long time. She knew about Dahlia leaving the Kane residence but never asked Keegan about
it.
A while ago, Stella had heard from Olivia that Dahlia was renting a house in their neighborhood. She seemed to
have been kicked out of the Crosby residence as well. However, Stella was busy then, so she did not ask for more
details.
'It seems like Dahlia is at the end of her rope. She's probably planning to trick Keegan into taking her back again,
and Howard is obviously here to speak for her.'
The corners of Keegan's mouth twitched when he heard about his mother. He looked at Howard and said,
"Shouldn't she be telling me-her son-that she misses me and not you, an outsider?"
"My mom was the one who told me. She's worried about your mom's health. You should visit her if you're not too
busy with work. It's not easy for her, you know, being alone, especially since your dad is gone," Howard explained.
Keegan was already feeling dizzy before this. Hearing that, his face turned cold immediately. "I don't need you to
lecture me. I know what my responsibilities are. Take her into your home if you pity her that much. Go be the caring
son she wants me to be."

Howard was taken aback for a moment. He did not expect Keegan to say something like that and did not know what
to say. Keegan ignored him and left with a sullen face.
Soon, Stella received Keegan's message: [I'll wait for you in the car.] When she got into the car, the man was
already leaning against the seat, resting. He did not even open his eyes when she entered. 'I guess he must be
asleep,' thought Stella.
"Madam..." Aldor whispered. Stella brought her index finger to her lips, gesturing him to stay silent, and whispered,"
Home."
Aldor immediately started the car after that.
Stella grabbed the makeup remover wipes from her bag and removed her makeup while looking into a compact
mirror. When she was almost done, she put down the mirror and saw Keegan looking at her with his head tilted.
"You awake?" Stella asked in a low voice.
Keegan pursed his lips. "I wasn't asleep."
"So you heard me get into the car and ignored me?"
