Chapter 1380
Vermont chuckled softly. "It's called working smart. Keegan is happy to investigate Hylda and so is your best friend.
Everyone is happy, so technically, I wasn't lying."
Felicity snorted. "You're just a cunning man with twisted logic!"
Vermont handed her the disposable utensils and said, "Here, you've been busy all night. Eat something to fill your
stomach. I specifically bought this for you, and I can't eat it anyway. It won't taste good when it gets cold, and I'll
even have to throw it away."
Felicity initially wanted to reject him with dignity, but the crispy pork belly was simply too tempting.
So, she "reluctantly" said, "Give me a heads up when you buy things like this next time. It'd be a waste if I don't eat
them."
Vermont replied with a smile, "Sure.”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtFelicity took the utensils, and her fingers unintentionally brushed against Vermont's. He instinctively pulled his hand
back, causing the utensils to fall on the floor.
Felicity paused.
Vermont made quite a big movement as if he had been poked by a needle.
He seemed somewhat frustrated, as he picked up the utensils from the ground and threw them away. Then, he
handed her a new set of unopened utensils before he softly said, "Open it yourself."
Then, he placed it on the table, instead of putting it in her hand like before.
Felicity felt strange at first but did not pay much attention to it.
However, it did not take her very long to realize that Vermont was purposely avoiding physical contact with her.
When they finished eating and clearing the table, she stood up to help, but her hair accidentally touched Vermont’s
arm. When she lifted her head, he quickly moved away.
When he offered her a bottle of water, he did not open it for her. Instead, he placed it on the coffee table and asked
her to get it herself.
Felicity gradually realized that Vermont was deliberately keeping his distance from her.
That realization made her feel very uncomfortable.
Although they were not in a romantic relationship, that was still not the way they treated each other.
Vermont's sudden avoidance made Felicity feel awkward about their relationship.
After taking out the trash, Vermont came back and saw the troubled look on her face.
That was a rare sight, as she was always an optimistic person and would rarely be bothered by anything.
Vermont pretended not to see that and asked, "Do you want to play some video games?"
Felicity recollected herself and looked at her script. Her mind was a mess and could not continue the story. So, she
closed her laptop and said, "I'll go get my charger."
It had been more than a week since they came back from the Onsen Villa, and they had not played video games
together since then.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmFelicity had played a few matches by herself and even invited other online friends to join her, but the matches were
not as enjoyable as playing with Vermont.
They would hide in the bushes together, complaining about their teammates, and even put on a show when they
were losing, pretending to argue with each other to trick the opponents into a surprise attack.
When they played together, it was not about winning or losing. Instead, it was all about having fun.
Felicity came back out with her charger, but Vermont was not in the living room anymore.
As she plugged in the charger and entered the game interface, Vermont came out of his bedroom.
He changed into a pair of shorts and a tank top, holding his phone as he walked over.
That tank top was tight. It revealed the well-defined outline of his muscles. It instantly reminded Felicity of the
stripper she had seen at Jaylene's birthday party.
However, Vermont's shorts were not as tight as theirs.
He sat down next to her, started the game, and said, "I'll invite a few more players. Let's play as a five-player
team."
Felicity paused, and it took her some time to say, "Sure."
