care of me.”

He added, “Lucas is my friend. He can’t meet you now, so he asked me to take care of you.”

Lumma said, “Then why did you lie to me before?”

Adam paused and then said, “He said there are some conflicts between your two, and you still

refuse to forgive him. He was worried that you would have a grudge against me, so he asked me to

keep it from you.”

How dared Lumma have any grudges against him? Moreover, she was not such a stingy person, “You are two

completely different people. How could I take my anger out on you because of him?”

Her words were ordinary, but they were jarring to Adam. Every word was like a thorn, which made his heart ache.
