Chester was in shock at the sight of Maniac's attitude as well. It was important to note that Maniac had hardly backed down even in Joel's face.
Just then, Wilbur said, "Ah, right, Maniac. Do you know this guy, Chester Yar?" "l do," Maniac said.
Wilbur smiled. "He askedto pay him half a billion dollars just for him to talk to Joel. | said no, and he asked for ten million dollars in appearance fees. He even threatened to sendto prison if | turned him down. I'm a little scared." Chester's expression shifted, and Maniac looked over at him with a murderous grin.
"Sir, this guy just has an uncle working in slow position for the city government. He's hardly powerful at all. Besides, Joel just lost his son. | don't think his uncle would be able to change his mind." "So you're saying I'm not going to get my money's worth if | paid him?" "No, | don't think so. His uncle can't even handle me, so do you think Joel would even give him the tof the day? Hilarious." Those words made Chester flush an ugly shade of purple. However, he remained silent.
It seemed like Maniac was right then.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtWilbur chuckled. "Hear that, Chester? You don't have the right to be making just about anyone's money, got it?" "I'm going to get going." Chester said nothing more after that as he turned to leave.
Maniac coldly called out from behind him, "If | catch wind of you trying to fiddle with this situation, I'm feeding you to the dogs." Chester trembled all over, fleeing at once without any of the bravado and cockiness from earlier.
Walter got to his feet shakily. "Mister Penn, | really was just trying to help. | swear | didn't have any other intentions, | promise." He was telling the truth. It was just that Wilbur already had Maniac on his side and was in the middle of taking down Joel. There was honestly no need for Walter to do what he had done.
It also seemed like Wilbur's plan not only involved saving Ethan, but also taking down Joel completely.
This was an incomprehensible war to Walter. At this point, he truly regretted his actions.
If Wilbur were to mistake Walter for trying to get something out of this, all Wilbur had to do was send Maniac after Walter and his career in Anya City would be done for.
Wilbur got to his feet, patting Walter on the shoulder. "Don't worry, | know you did that out of wanting to help Ethan. I'm just telling you that all you need to be responsible for is handling the legal case and nothing else." "Yes, yes, | understand. I'll be on my way then, Mister Penn." Wilbur nodded as Walter practically fled the room in a fit of terror.
It was until Walter had reached the end of the hallway that he wiped at the sweat on his brow.
Walter had not expected Wilbur to be so incredibly powerful and capable.
He seemed to have taken down the city's notorious madman Maniac in just a single night, and he probably had a plan to take down Joel too. At this point, it was possible that Wilbur would cout victorious.
"Incredible. Truly incredible," Walter marveled, hurrying off.
Three days later.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmJoel was throwing a fit in his house, breaking all the furniture and antiques he could see.
His servants hid to the side, their heads bowed as no one dared to go up to him.
Joel's eyes were bloodshot as if he wanted to eat someone alive.
His factories, buildings, and worksites had all been attacked almost simultaneously.
A group of people had used a plethora of excuses to tear the spaces down and riot outside, making as big of a scene as imaginable. Lots of sites had to stop work because of the attacks. If this went on, Joel was going to suffer a huge loss.
He had also asked around and found out that the attacks had been carried out by Maniac's men.
"You've really lost your f*cking mind, Maniac. Do you know what's going to happen to you?" Joel shouted at the top of his lungs like a feral beast.
