The first place that Johanna headed to was not her home but the company.

On the taxi, Johanna revealed to Jonathan that her family manufactured car engines. The name of the company was Falcon Corporation.

When Jonathan heard the name, he was shocked. “Wow, your family founded Falcon engines?” An expression of pride appeared on Johanna's face. She replied, “Yes!” Jonathan could not help but exclaim, “Amazing!” Falcon Corporation created the best car engines in the nation currently. It even appeared to be able to surpass engines produced by other countries in the future.

Furthermore, many citizens started to approve of Falcon Corporation's engines in Chanaea. The brand was starting to create a name for itself.

The quality of local car engines was generally considered bad in the country, but Falcon engines boosted the reputation of local car engines. Falcon Corporation had

signed long-term collaborations with many local car manufacturers. Some companies which had joint ventures even had strategic partnerships with them.

Furthermore, a famous global brand even wanted to purchase Falcon Corporation at an astronomical price wanting to gain insight into how to create their engines.

However, Falcon Corporation rejected them.

The wealth of Falcon Corporation reached tens of billions of dollars in Anglandurn currency.

Yet, contrary to public expectations, Falcon Corporation was not listed in the stock market.

As the Falcon Corporation representative said, the company's founders did not understand the stock market and only knew how to create car engines.

Thus, they would continue to focus on creating car engines.

Considering that the two of them were in a taxi and that their conversation could be overheard by the driver, Jonathan did not ask Johanna why she was being chased.

Thus, the two of them fell silent.

Half an hour passed and it was seven o' clock.

The morning sun shone through the car windows.

The taxi stopped in front of Falcon Corporation.

Jonathan paid for the fare and the two people got off the taxi.

Falcon Corporation was in a building that had thirty- six levels. The name of the building was Falcon Building.

The production and assembly line as well as the design, research, and market development departments were located in the building. In short, all of the company's core departments were in there. Thus, Falcon Corporation was able to keep its industrial and trade secrets watertight. The representative of Falcon Corporation had spent a lot of money to hire professional bodyguards. These professionals checked the surveillance cameras and identified anyone suspicious easily.

Furthermore, there were security guards patrolling the

building.

The security guards were all experienced too. Some of them were retired special forces soldiers and mercenaries.

The security at Falcon Corporation was very tight, and the place was very safe.

After all, Falcon Corporation's competitors were big companies and corporations. Thus, it was not likely for them to hire professionals. Basically, they were not ancient families specializing in martial arts.

In the meantime, Jonathan and Johanna entered the Falcon Building.

When the security guard saw Johanna, he respectfully greeted her before letting them in.

Johanna had regained her composure. She placidly nodded and accepted his greetings.

Jonathan looked around curiously.

Johanna brought Jonathan to the elevator and went up to the highest floor of the building.

“Where are we going?” Jonathan asked Johanna.

Johanna replied, “I'm bringing you to meet my younger sister. She's the chairman of the company.” “Why? She's not a beautiful lady anyway.” Johanna was rendered speechless. A moment later, she said, “You have saved me and helped Falcon Corporation greatly. My sister will be grateful to you.” Jonathan immediately said, “You aren't going to renege on your promise, are you?" Johanna froze and did not expect that he would remember her promise to give him a kiss. She said, “| am a married woman. Why are you..." Jonathan laughed and replied, “Why don't you give it to me now? | will leave after that as | have something on later.” Thereafter, he cornered Johanna against the walls of the elevator.

His strong arms encircled Johanna.

The posture was one that made women's hearts pound

furiously.

It was one where he placed his palms against the wall and trapped her between his arms. She would be unable to leave and could only let him do what he wanted. A kiss would be the icing on the cake.

Johanna was frightened by Jonathan's sudden action.

“Don't mess around. We are in the company. There are surveillance cameras in the elevator,” Johanna exclaimed as she panicked.

Jonathan chuckled and said, “Why should | be scared? You have promised me! | am just getting my reward!” “When my husband sees this, he will kill you!” Johanna said angrily.

“Haha!” Jonathan chuckled before letting Johanna go. “I'm joking. Don't take it to heart,” he said.

Johanna realized that Jonathan was teasing her. She was annoyed but found it funny at the same time.

They soon arrived at the thirty-sixth level.

The two of them walked out of the elevator.

On the highest floor, there was a luxurious office. Gold- rimmed carpeting was placed on the floor.

Johanna led Jonathan into the office.

Johanna knocked on the door and a woman's pleasant voice soon sounded. “Please come in!” Pushing open the door, Johanna led Jonathan in.

There was a ceiling-to-floor window in the office, and there were many advanced technological gadgets. The interior design was lavish.

There was a carpet on the floor and a big screen where one could watch movies and play games.

On the other end of the room was a gym.

“Oh my!" Jonathan only gave a quick glance across the room and he could not help but sigh in envy. Rich people spend money extravagantly!

However, what attracted Jonathan the most was the lady sitting at the desk in the office.

She was Johanna's younger sister and the chairman of Falcon Corporation.

She appeared to be around twenty-five years old and wore a purple suit.

Her hair was styled in an elegant updo, and she looked capable and mature.

Her figure was great and was as attractive as Johanna's.

Furthermore, she was beautiful just like Johanna.

Johanna was full of mature charm. The matureness could be seen in her beautiful figure, and she was as appealing as a juicy peach on a hot day. When men saw her, they yearned to push her beneath them.

However, the lady had a strong aura. When men saw her, they would feel inferior in front of her and dare not pursue her.

When the lady saw Johanna, she immediately stood up and

walked over with a look of concern on her face. “Johanna! ‘You're back! | called you multiple times but you never picked up!” The lady clasped Johanna's hands tightly.

With lingering fear in her heart, Johanna said, “Joanne, | almost could not meet you. If this man had not saved me, | would have been killed by assassins.” She pointed at Jonathan and said, “Joanne, let me introduce you to the man who saved me. His name is Jonathan Lawson.” Thereafter, Johanna introduced Jonathan to her younger sister. “This is my younger sister, Joanne Wilkinson.” Jonathan subconsciously straightened his spine when he saw Joanne. He looked all serious and greeted, “Hello, Ms.

Joanne.” Joanne stretched out a hand to him. “Hello, Mr. Lawson.

Thank you for your help.” Jonathan reached out a hand and shook hers.

He was a man, so when women did not take the initiative to shake his hand, he would not initiate it. It was a matter of

respect.

Although he was brash at times, he would be respectful when the occasion called for it.

However, he had no qualms about behaving as he wished around Johanna.

More importantly, the first time he met Johanna, she had an intimate encounter with him. Thus, he behaved as he wished around her.

Jonathan quickly let go of Joanne's hand after she shook his. It was a fleeting handshake, and he acted with the utmost respect.

However, at that moment, a flash of shock appeared in Jonathan's eyes.

Joanne's hand was too cold.

It was as if her hand had been frozen for a thousand years.

“What's wrong?” Joanne asked when she noticed the peculiar grimace on Jonathan's face.

Jonathan was confused. Did Joanne not know that her hand was icy-cold? Hence, he replied, “Your hand is very cold.” “It can't be,” Johanna said. “My sister has a weak and cold body from birth, but | don't think it is that cold!” Thereafter she held Joanne's hand and continued to speak. “It's not very cold. It's just slightly colder than the average person's hand.” What? How can that be? Her hand was so cold that he could not take it.

Could it be my misconception? Jonathan shook his head and asked Joanne, “Can | hold your hand again?” Before Joanne could reply, Johanna's expression turned strange. She exclaimed, “Don't take advantage of my sister, Jonathan!” Jonathan said seriously, “I don't have the intention to do so.

1 just find it weird.”

“What do you mean by weird? I've grown up with my sister.

No one said that she was weird. You said that she was weird when you have only met her once. You're the one with a problem.” Jonathan could not help but laugh bitterly. He said, “All right.” He paused before saying, “There's nothing for me to do here. I'll take my leave.” “Please wait!” A frightened look appeared on Joanne's face.

She appeared to have thought of something.

Jonathan turned and saw Joanne's expression. He knew that there must have been something wrong with her body.

Joanne stretched out her fair and pale hand.

Without hesitation, Jonathan grabbed her hand.

He held onto it and did not let go immediately.

In an instant, an icy-cold feeling rushed into Jonathan's veins.

Jonathan resisted the urge to let go of her hand. He stared

at Joanne in shock.

While Catherine was naturally cold-blooded, her symptoms were normal and considered common. Jonathan did not find anything out of the ordinary with her.

However, something was different about Joanne's hand.

“Hey! Why aren't you letting go, Jonathan?” Johanna asked.

Joanne said, “Johanna, don't hurry him.” She stared at Jonathan seriously before looking at his hand.

At that moment, something weird happened.

Athin layer of frost appeared on Jonathan's hand.

“Oh, my god!” Jonathan yelled and could not help but let go of Joanne's hand. He could not stand the coldness emitting from Joanne's hand.

He hurriedly shook his hand to regain blood circulation.

Soon after, the layer of frost disappeared.

Joanne and Johanna were shocked.

It was only then that Johanna realized that Jonathan was telling the truth. He had no intention of taking advantage of Joanne.

“Why is it like this?” Johanna asked Jonathan.

Jonathan did not understand what was going on either. He replied, “You should ask Ms. Joanne this question.”

Johanna turned to Joanne, who looked bewildered. The latter said, “It's the first time I've seen such a reaction.” “That's so strange,” Johanna reached out to hold Joanne's hand.

Although she held it tightly without loosening her grip, nothing happened.

Even after watching closely for one full minute, Jonathan did not notice any change in either of the women.

They turned toward him doubtfully, then Johanna asked, “Could it be that there's something strange with your body?” He stroked his nose thoughtfully and sounded frustrated as he replied, “I've also never come across something like this.

Why don't the two of us try it?” Johanna did not think he was trying to take advantage of her, so she stretched her soft, fair hand toward him and joined hands.

However, they did not observe anything unusual.

They maintained that position for a minute to the point they

felt embarrassed and let go, but still, nothing happened.

All of a sudden, Joanne stuck out her hand toward Jonathan and said, “Let's give it a go again.” Nodding, Jonathan reached over so they could clasp their hands together.

What the hell! There's that biting cold sensation again! He had to use his vitality to resist the icy feeling that radiated from Joanne's body.

White frost began forming on his hands like before, and that time around, it even spread to his arms.

“Let go!” he yelled, unable to bear it any longer. He withdrew his hand and stepped back.

Only then did the frost on his arm gradually disappear.

As he stared at her, one could tell from the look in his eyes that he thought the whole situation was strange and ominous. It's the first time I've encountered something so sinister.

Joanne also had a strange look in her eyes as she fell into

deep thought.

Noticing that, Jonathan knew at once that something was amiss with Joanne but that she did not wish to talk about it.

Nonetheless, he did not want to probe further as it had nothing to do with him. He merely smiled and said, “If there's nothing else, I'll be going then.” Panicking, Johanna hurriedly called out, “Don't go! What's wrong with my sister?” “You know something, don't you? It's just that you're unwilling to say anything,” he said while looking straight at Joanne.

Johanna shifted her gaze to Joanne and asked, “Is that true?” However, Joanne replied, “Not at all.” After a pause, she continued, “Let's not talk about this now. Instead, we should be discussing how to thank Mr. Lawson.” Johanna had no clue what was going on. All she knew was that her sister was quite opinionated and that she would not

be able to change the latter's mind. Hence, she responded in agreement, saying, “Yes, you're right. We need to thank him properly.” “That won't be necessary,” he replied nonchalantly.

Nonetheless, he could not refrain from asking, “Why is there an assassin out to kill you?” While Johanna hesitated, wondering whether to share more details, Joanne said, “Let's sit and talk.” Since Jonathan was in no rush and was somewhat curious, he replied, “Sure.” After the trio sat down on the couch, Joanne had her secretary come in to make some coffee. She also whispered a few words into the latter's ear, who nodded in response.

Then, she said to Jonathan, “In truth, there's nothing to hide. My sister and | went to Ustrana recently and developed a core technology patent with a Chanaean scientist. The drawing for the technology is very complex.

Currently, no one can produce it on a computer. My sister

in the air.

Sometimes, it would still snow in Willowbank in May. It was truly a strange city.

After exiting Falcon Building, Jonathan walked under the morning sun while mulling over the unusual incident with Joanne.

It was something he had never experienced, and he could not wrap his head around it.

‘When one attained the same level of understanding as Jonathan, one would realize there was a clear reason behind everything in the world.

They knew there was a cause and effect to everything that happened.

It was just like how there was an explanation for Lance's remarkable ability to exist in the form of primordial spirits.

However, when it came to what happened with Joanne, Jonathan simply could not figure it out.

‘Why does the frost only appear when | shake hands with

Joanne but not when Johanna does it? I'm sure Joanne usually shakes hands with others, so she would've definitely known if there was a reaction. In other words, a chemical reaction only occurs when she shakes hands with me. What the f*ck does that mean? Suddenly, he felt as though his mind was a jumbled mess as myriad thoughts related to tales of the reincarnation of ill-fated lovers raced through it.

Could something have happened between Joanne and me in our past lives? But isn't that just nonsense? There's no such thing as reincarnation, so how could there be past lives? When a person dies, that's it. Reincarnation doesn't happen! He was absolutely mystified.

He was walking along the street when he spotted a restaurant. Turning abruptly, he went into the restaurant and ordered a spaghetti bolognese while still mulling over the matter.

I can't figure it out!

Suddenly, Jonathan thought of Master Richard.

With his god-like cultivation, he's sure to be way more knowledgeable than me. Why don't | try asking him? However, it doesn't seem quite right to bother him with something as trivial as this.

“Oh, right! | can ask Beatrix!” he exclaimed, having a sudden flash of inspiration. After all, Master Richard was the one who had said | could look for her if | came across any difficulties.

Without hesitation, he whipped out his phone and dialed Beatrix's number.

The call went through quickly, then he heard Beatrix's voice on the other end of the line.

“Hello?” Snickering, he replied, “Hello, Little Bee. Can you guess who's this?” A second later, all he heard was the dial tone as she hung up.

Jonathan was momentarily taken aback. He would behave when he was around Beatrix, but now that he was miles away, he had gotten smart-mouthed.

However, it was a complete surprise to him that she would hang up just like that.

He sighed. Beatrix has no sense of humor at all and can't take a joke. What a Killjoy.

Atter that, he called her again. That time, he greeted stiffly, “Hello, Beatrix. It's me, Jonathan.” “Is something the matter?” Beatrix asked coldly.

“Well, yes. There's something that | think is very strange, and | can't figure it out. That's why | wanted to ask you about it. You're way more experienced—" “Get to the point,” she snapped, interrupting him without any qualms.

He immediately began, “Here's what happened...” Then, he proceeded to describe how frost had appeared after touching Joanne's hand.

has the drawing, but there's no way of transmitting it using a computer.” Johanna piped up, “Joanne is an expert in this area. She can analyze the drawing to help Falcon Corporation build better engines.” “We didn't expect our competitors to try and get their hands on the drawing once the news leaked. From their perspective, even if they can't get the drawing, they don't want us to have it to prevent us from pulling ahead of them.

That Chanaean scientist has passed away in Ustrana. So, once the drawing gets destroyed, that technology will be lost forever,” Joanne explained. After a brief pause, she said, “Thankfully, the gods were on our side. We were fortunate to meet you, which is why the drawing didn't go missing. Mr. Lawson, you've saved us from a huge loss, so we must thank you.” As she spoke, the secretary brought over the coffee and a checkbook.

Joanne was someone who did everything with a generous

spirit. Her pen flew over the check with great flourish, then she tore it out and handed it to Jonathan. “Here's a small token of our appreciation. Please accept it.” Without looking at the check, Jonathan replied with a smile, “It was nothing. There's no need for that.” Joanne and Johanna were slightly taken aback, wondering if he genuinely did not care about money.

“Mr. Lawson, | think you should take a look at the amount before deciding whether or not to refuse it,” Joanne suggested.

He grinned at her and said, “For someone as generous as you who wishes to thank me personally, I'm guessing you wouldn't write down anything less than three million.” Her expression shifted slightly as that was the exact amount she had written! She had not expected him to make such an accurate guess, and she could not help but take another look at him.

He may appear cynical, but there's actually more to him than meets the eye.

“All right, then. | still have some business to attend to. Bye!” With that, Jonathan got up to leave.

After taking a few steps, he looked back at Joanne with a smile. “It's a beautiful thing when people lend a helping hand to others in a situation where they don't cause harm to themselves. If one were to involve money in everything, life would be rather dull.” Having said that, he strode out of the office.

The two sisters exchanged glances after he left.

“What do you think of him?” Johanna asked.

Joanne pondered for a moment before saying, “He's either a scheming man who's plotting something big or a rare gem of a gentleman.” “I think he falls in the latter category because | bumped into him in a panic while running for my life. It doesn't make sense for him to have ulterior motives.” Joanne countered, “Maybe he saw that Falcon Corporation was doing well and hatched a new plan. He's a smart

person, that's for sure.” Her sister shot her a bitter smile. “Joanne, | think he's more easygoing than you. He doesn't think that badly of others.

Also, you tend to doubt everything and distrust others because you've been a chairman for so long.” Joanne did not attempt to refute what Johanna said.

Instead, she replied rather tiredly, “Perhaps.” Something occurred to Johanna, and she added, “By the way, why was there frost when you shook Jonathan's hand just now?” “I'm really not too sure,” Joanne replied, not wanting to talk about it. After a pause, she asked, “Where's the drawing?” Johanna did not press further and merely took out the drawing.

Willowbank had a northern climate, so even though it was the end of February, the weather was still freezing cold.

Despite the sun shining that day, there was still a frosty chill

“What do you think happened? Nothing happens to other people who shake her hand. It's only me. Could it be that we were lovers in our past lives, and now that fate led us to cross paths again, a chemical reaction occurred as soon as we met?” Beatrix replied, “It's normal for men to have physiological reactions when they meet a woman. However, this is my first time hearing something like this.” Jonathan was caught off-guard by her comment about a physiological response. D*mn! She's quite open about these things!
