Chapter 87 Chapter 87 Aden "It's tyou two talked," Remington says as Colsen crosses the small room and takes a seat at the table.

His movements are slow and intentional. He's not in a rush, and he wants everyone to know it.

As a man who likes to be in control, I respect it.

"There is too much bad blood between you, even though you should be in business." "I have no bad blood with him," I say, leaning back in my chair and putting my hands on the table.

Still, I share a look with my captain, letting him know to be ready in case this goes south.

"Bullshit," Colsen says, leaning back and resting an arm over the back of his chair.

There it is again, that unreliability. Colsen is rumored to kill at will, unafraid of the consequences.

Now, he fixeswith a confident stare. "I know you went the warden, told him to takeout. Told him I'm too green to handle my trade." I blink, neither confirming nor denying the accusation.

But inside, I'm pissed. Someone leaked the information, and someone is going to pay for it.

As if reading my mind, Colsen smirks.

"Don't bother looking within your people for who spilled the news. The warden toldhimself." Colsen slowly leans forward, lookingin the eye. "Just before I cut his throat." I clench my teeth as I take in this boy, this kid-who has the fucking gall- God dammit. I struggle to control my anger in this moment, to make sure none of it is visible on my face.

I refuse to give these two anything.

But, inside, I know all of this is a blow.

I worked hard to get the warden on my side.

And out of it, in the end, I get nothing.

Remington and Colsen are a team now, and with no warden in my back pocket...

This putsat a disadvantage.

And I'm not used to being at a disadvantage.

Unfortunately, Remington and Colsen are one step ahead of me, they have been for days. Maybe even weeks.

I stand, in one swift and graceful movement. This meeting is over.

I can't-won't-sit here and negotiate, not without knowing precisely where I stand.

I need more information, now.

"Leaving so soon?" Remington smiles, pretending a concern that he certainly doesn't feel.

I don't answer, just nod to my men and head for the door. We have to get out of here before there are any more surprises.

"Aden," Colsen calls, just as I reach the door.

Against my better judgment, I turn to meet his gaze.

"Tell Brooklyn I said hello," he says with a smirk. Then he winks. "And that I'll be seeing her real closes his eyes. "She smell She good, that she-wolf." Grinding my teeth, I turn and head out the door.

So As my crew walks through the main room, a flash of purple hair catches my eye, and I lock eyes with a vel? dancer who is shimmying on one of the side stages.

"Kenwood!" she calls, her voice shaking with anger.

I ignore her and keeps going.

"Kenwood!" she tries again, louder this time, trying to get my attention. "Where the fuck is my sister!?" I recognize her. Jolie Knox, Brooklyn's sister.

I make a mental note.

The cars are still waiting where we left them, the drivers ready.

As we roll away, I curse under his breath, staring out the window at the passing city without really seeing it.

Colsen, with Brooklyn's non his lips.

It makes my blood boil.

She is the one card I have left to play.

Remington turned tail, switching his lances to this young kid after twenty-syears of allegin aftene the Kenwood family.

And that is a big problem for me.

The only thing keeping Remington from making a real move is his m daughter I have to keep her close at all costs.

If I don't, I could lose everything.
