Chapter 1571

Emily’s smile instantly froze on her face as she looked at Charlie in surprise. “Your mom met Kya?”

The car was dimly lit, and the bright neon lights outside were reflected in, flickering continuously. Charlie didn’t

notice the unusual expression on Emily’s face and just nodded slightly. “Yeah, I told her Kya is my friend’s kid.”

Emily breathed a sigh of relief, but remembering what Mrs. James had said before, she felt the relaxed atmosphere

was completely gone. Kya was still talking about the fun things that happened today. Emily patiently listened and

occasionally cracked a joke with her. Charlie’s gaze fell on Emily’s side face through the rear-view mirror. He hadn’t

been to Bright Commercial Center these past few days. Partly because he was really busy and partly because he

was feeling a bit off, and he needed to cool down.

Emily didn’t seem to notice his mood swings and didn’t get upset about his cold attitude, which left him unsure

whether to be happy or not. It seemed like he was the only one feeling the torment.

This feeling made him a bit restless and uneasy, as if things were getting out of his control.

He loosened his tie a bit and gripped the steering wheel tighter, his knuckles clear as they repeatedly clenched on

the wheel.

By the time they returned to Bright Commercial Center, it was nearly ten o’clock.

Kya, having napped a lot in the afternoon, was full of energy and dragged Charlie to see her new toy.

“Kya, it’s time for a bath and bed,” Emily said. She knew Charlie had taken care of Kya all day and must be tired.

Charlie smiled, “I let her nap in the afternoon. I didn’t have the heart to wake her up. You go take a shower, I’ll stay

with her.”

Seeing the two of them having so much fun, Emily could only go get her clothes and take a shower.

The sound of water soon came from the bathroom. Charlie glanced over, his mind gradually drifting.

When Emily came out, she was wearing a light blue house dress. Her hair was spread over her shoulders, and

droplets of water still hung on her eyelashes. She sat down next to Kya.

Charlie took a phone call and came back, sitting across from Emily. The scent of milk on her made his gaze even

deeper.

Emily looked up. “You should go rest.”

“I’m not in a hurry.” Charlie felt a bit hot. He loosened his tie and unbuttoned a few buttons on his shirt collar.

His movements were slow and rhythmic. He looked incredibly sexy, exuding a hormonal aura. Emily quickly lowered

her head to play blocks with Kya.

Charlie got up and went to the kitchen, brought back two cans of beer, and handed one to Emily. “Want a sip?”

Emily took it and took a swig. The cold beer with its rich aroma went from her throat to her stomach, instantly

making her feel much more relaxed.

Charlie sat on the carpet, leaning against the couch. His voice was even lower after the beer, “I heard from Tracy

that you know Mr. Walton’s son from Horizon Enterprises.”

Erpily wiped the beer off her lips, her eyes candid, “When I was studying in Oakdale City, he was my classmate. We

met during an internship. didn’t expect he was Mr. Walton’s son from Horizon Enterprises.”

Wilson had just returned from abroad and took over a bidding project with the James group. It was during the

communication with Horizon Enterprises that she learned that Wilson was the heir to Horizon Enterprises.

Emily rolled her eyes and looked at Charlie, “We’re just classmates, nothing more. You don’t need to worry about

me favoring Horizon Enterprises”

Charlie was about to take a sip of his beer, one leg bent. Hearing this, he gave her a glance, his expression cold,

“Do you think I’m the type to be suspicious and narrow-minded?”

Emily awkwardly said, “No, I should have reported this situation to you in advance. It’s my duty.”

“That’s not what I meant Charlie glanced at her lightly “Besides normal work communication, you’d better stay

away from him!”
