“I don’t care, stop beating around the bush and transfer the money now!” Daisy urged, glancing at the crowd
gathering around them and worried about a call from Xavier.
The waitress, who looked no more than twenty, was visibly frightened and pleaded in a low voice, “Can we settle for
three thousand dollars? That’s all I have.”
“Three thousand?” Daisy scoffed, about to walk away. “I’m done talking. I’ll just go directly to your manager.”
“Please, don’t talk to my manager. I’ll lose my job!” The waitress pleaded helplessly, “Can I give you an IOU? I’ll pay
you back when I get my wages.”

[I’m here with my uncle and Estelle, having a gathering with friends. It was stuffy inside, so I came out for some
fresh air.] Norah replied.
After waiting for a minute without any response from Xavier, Norah sent another message: [That lady is getting
impatient waiting for you; you better hurry back!]
Just as she sent the message, she saw Xavier coming up the stairs, his head down, probably reading her message.
Norah turned her head away, pretending she didn’t know him.
After reading Norah’s message, Xavier instinctively looked at her. The girl was looking cheerful, her lips tightly
pursed. Was she happy that he was on a date?
Xavier squinted slightly, looked away, and headed towards Daisy.
