Mu Zhi answered the call reluctantly.
“What is it?” Asked Lu Junnian.
“I wanted to talk to Zhu Sha.”
Mu Zhi tried her best to put up a casual front as she responded to Lu Junnian.
“You can talk to me.”
Lu Junnian glanced in the bathroom’s direction but did not say anything to her.
Mu Zhi hesitated briefly.
She figured that it was nothing personal and agreed that there was no need to avoid Lu Junnian.
Thus, she went straight to the point, “I need you to look into the doctors who had been in charge of my
mother’s treatment in the States, the drug prescription, and all records of her treatment, preferably with
surveillance footage.”
“Sure.”
Lu Junnian did not even ask a thing before agreeing to Mu Zhi’s requests.
Then, Mu Zhi heard the sound of a door shutting in Lu Junnian’s background, followed by Zhu Sha’s
sheepish voice, “Junnian, I’m done with my shower.”
Mu Zhi instantly hung up the call.
She did not want to interfere with Lu Junnian and Zhu Sha’s quality time.
But on the other end of the phone, Lu Junnian did not seem to share the same opinion.
He clasped the phone in his hand, pressing it against his ear despite knowing that Mu Zhi would not
say another thing.
It wasn’t until the beeping tone sounded from the phone when Lu Junnian appeared to have woken up
from a dream. Then, he seized his jacket and burst out the door without saying a word to Zhu Sha.
Zhu Sha was startled at this sight. She thought about chasing after him.
But… Lu Junnian had turned the car engine over and took off with a vroom.
Moments earlier, they had agreed on having a quiet night to themselves, but for some reason, he was
eager to leave in this instance.

responded unwaveringly as though nothing had concerned him.
“Zhu Sha, I only bedded you in the first place because I was drugged and mistook you as Mu Zhi. You
understand that, right?”
Zhu Sha pursed her lips silently.
While Lu Junnian pressed on, “I treat you better these days only because you started dressing like Mu
Zhi. You understand that too, right?”
Zhu Sha remained wordless.
Every word coming from Lu Junnian felt like needles piercing through her heart. She was quietly
suffering in agony.
“You knew that Mu Zhi is the only woman I love when you wooed me earlier. I’ve made it clear to you
too!”
Following that, Lu Junnian hung up the call without saying another word.
On the other hand, Mu Zhi went for a shower after her call with Lu Junnian. She had climbed onto the
bed and prepared to sleep.
But Lu Junnian’s call came in.
“Hello?”
“I’ve got everything, come downstairs, let me hand the documents to you.”
Lu Junnian said to Mu Zhi overbearingly.
Mu Zhi was dumbfounded. “That’s fast.”
“If you can’t come down, I’ll bring it in. Everyone knows me anyway, the guards won’t stop me.”
“Don’t worry, let me go down.”
Mu Zhi sensed that Lu Junnian was under the influence of alcohol. He was different from his usual,
gentle self.
She thought briefly and decided to head out.
But everything came too suddenly. She had no time to get changed.
Thus, she chose to wear a coat over her pajamas, scrambled to put on a pair of cloth shoes, and then
left home.
She was at the villa entrance when she saw Lu Junnian’s car, but Lu Junnian was nowhere to be found
when she approached the vehicle.

kissed her amorously.
Lu Junnian’s breath smelled of alcohol. He was squeezing Mu Zhi firmly with all his strength, and Mu

At this moment, she caught a glimpse of a red figure.

Before she could get a closer look, she heard a shrill voice that cracked towards the end.
Lu Junnian then flinched briefly but continued to hold Mu Zhi with both hands.
Mu Zhi seized the opening and pushed him away.
While she did, Zhu Sha had strode towards her, stared her down furiously with a sardonic smile, and
struck her across the face!
Zhu Sha’s baby bump was showing. Combined with her petite figure, she looked meeker than usual.
“Mu Zhi, do you have any idea what you’re doing? How shameful can you be?!”
Zhu Sha yelled at Mu Zhi’s face.
Mu Zhi stood rooted to the ground.

shielded her behind him. He snapped at Zhu Sha listlessly, “Who are you to criticize Mu Zhi? You’re the
