Chapter 125 From Today Onwards, I Am Her Father
Mu Zhi did not understand how she could open up like that and tell Lu Junnian about Mu Xiaomu.
While with Lu Jinye, she had to cover her lies with more lies.
But when Lu Junnian slowly let go of her and cupped her face saying, “From today onwards, I’ll be her
father,” Mu Zhi finally understood.
She came to her senses and shot up out of his arms. Mu Zhi looked at Lu Junnian in earnest.
“Don’t be stupid. I’ll raise my own child.”
After she said that, she lifted her hand to her face and wiped away her tears. All of the sadness and
hurt she had felt before, disappeared.
She looked up the clock on the wall and smiled naturally.
“It’s getting dark. Thank you for coming over but you should go now.” She spoke formally and kept her
distance.
Lu Junnian saw her revert back to her formal self and got annoyed.
“Mu Zhi! Why do you retreat every time I give us an opportunity to grow closer?”
“Because we are no longer in a relationship that needs us to be close.”
Mu Zhi could not count the number of times she had rejected him.
A sense of guilt filled her when she rejected him.
Because… He had done enough, more than enough for her!
Lu Junnian looked at Mu Zhi in despair. He left in anger without saying another word.
Mu Zhi watched as he left. She slumped on the couch and stared at the empty room.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtHow had things come to this? How could she reject Lu Junnian with such confidence when she couldn’t
even tell her story straight?
The entire situation was as if her world was collapsing. But in the process, somehow it was also being
rebuilt.
Mu Zhi went for a shower and could finally relax.
Outside, standing in the shadows of the stairwell was a silhouette. It watched as Lu Junnian left before
leaving the shadows and turned to look at the door behind him. He turned back towards the direction of
the elevators, where Lu Junnian was heading, and clenched his fist.
He couldn’t leave.
He couldn’t leave without Mu Zhi’s love and Mu Xiaomu.
He looked back at the door before finally deciding to return home and figure out his next move.
Zhang Baiyan took the elevator down and went to a nearby convenient store to purchase himself a few
bottles of beer before getting into the car that had been waiting for him.
“How did it go?”
The driver asked as soon as he got into the car.
“It went nowhere. We’re coming back tomorrow.”
Zhang Baiyan replied in annoyance. He pulled open the tab of the beer can as he spoke and downed it
in one breath.
And gave the order, “Drive.”
The driver looked at him through the rearview mirror and opened his mouth to say something before
thinking better of it. Instead, he drove Zhang Baiyan to his destination and returned to his car to make a
phone call.
When Zhang Baiyan reached home, he still had three bottles left. The rest he had finished on the way
home. He finally understood.
As he was the ‘father’, why shouldn’t he exercise some of his rights?!
The thought of it excited him.
He laid down on the bed and finished the remaining bottles of beer. And soon fell asleep without even
showering.
…
Xiao Qingqing went to the hospital for another checkup. After confirming that she was indeed pregnant,
she was surprised but also happy.
She was surprised that she was actually pregnant but the child that she bore was not Lu Jinye’s.
And happy because even though it was temporary, she finally had something to tie Lu Jinye to her.
She went shopping for some clothes. While she was not yet showing, she could still dress to
accentuate her figure.
However, the clothes that she purchased were made of tulle and fluffy. In any case, they all looked
bridal, suitable for either bridesmaids or a wedding dress.
She couldn’t exactly come right off and buy a wedding gown. That would be too obvious. As if she was
forcing him to marry her.
Xiao Qingqing wore the dress as she waited for Lu Jinye to come home for dinner. He was later than
usual. The first thing he saw when he entered the house was Xiao Qingqing. Her makeup exquisitely
done, dressed in a ball gown, emitting an ethereal ambience.
“Jinye, do I look beautiful?”
But without sparing her a second glance, Lu Jinye turned and walked to the bathroom.
Xiao Qingqing followed behind him and asked.
“Yeah.”
Lu Jinye looked at Xiao Qingqing and replied her with one word.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm“Then what do you think this beautiful dress looks like…?”
She hinted at Lu Jinye.
Lu Jinye casted a sweeping glance over her. He stared at her clothes and frowned.
Looks like?
He had never paid any attention to clothes before. Therefore, he really couldn’t answer what exactly did
it looked like.
At this moment, the housekeeper was leaving the kitchen with plates of food for the dining room. She
overheard what Xiao Qingqing was saying on her way back to the kitchen and laughed. She looked at
Lu Jinye and explained, “Miss Xiao, Mr. Lu will never for the life of him be able to tell what it looks like.”
She explained and turned back to Lu Jinye, “Miss Xiao wants to get married.”
Lu Jinye finally understood. He looked at Xiao Qingqing and frowned.
While Xiao Qingqing tried her best to look coy.
“Should I have not tried to push you?”
“You shouldn’t have needed to push me. You should have been proposed to and gotten married the
normal way.”
The words played through his mind but got stuck in his throat on the way out. He couldn’t say it.
He stared into Xiao Qingqing’s pleading eyes for a while. And made a phone call to Linda saying,
“Have the designer, Miranda come over to the house tomorrow.”
Hearing this, Xiao Qingqing was ecstatic.
She quickly ran towards Lu Jinye, stood on tiptoe and planted a kiss on him.
Lu Jinye did not respond but took her by the hand and led her to the dining room.
After dinner, Lu Jinye was reading reports in the living room. In a way, he was keeping Xiao Qingqing
accompanied. When Xiao Qingqing left the bathroom, she brought with her a gentle floral scent as she
slowly approached Lu Jinye.
