Chapter 384
Holden finally felt satisfied.
During the past chess games, they’d go back and forth, usually taking at least half an hour to finish.
But tonight, lan had wiped out grandpa’s chess pieces in a mere ten minutes.
He raised his eyebrows in surprise.
“You little rascal, have you been letting me win all this time?”
He was shocked, so much so that his nose went crooked with anger.
“Let’s go for another round!”
lan glanced at the wall clock, It was already 7:51.
“lan, you’ve checked the clock five times since we started playing chess. Your mind isn’t here.”
Despite Holden being a seasoned player, the thought of this kid being distracted yet able to finish the
game in ten minutes made him feel a tinge of pride.
He sure picked the right grandson.
He thought Maja was pretty good.
“I have a photo of Maja when we first met, do you want to see it? She was taking care of me in the
hospital, very well–behaved.”
lan didn’t have the mind to see it, as his business partner had just called. He got up to leave.

“Gramps, my partner called. I still need to discuss the morning meeting content with them.”
Holden sighed. So, his restlessness was because of the meeting.
“If you were as dedicated to Maja, you two would have had a kid by now. Go on, no matter how busy
work is, don’t forget about your wife at home.” lan didn’t respond to this, and once he got into the car,
he checked the time again.
It was already eight o’clock.
Instead of answering his partner’s call, he drove straight to the hotel.
It was half past eight.
Jeff called to say that Knox had been arrested. The ByteWise Technologies‘ scandal had been
exposed, and everyone would know about ByteWise Technologies‘ bankruptcy by the next morning.
lan nodded and walked straight to the elevator.
Jeff wanted to say that that also saved the Pennyfeather family.
After all, if everyone at ByteWise Technologies was in jail, the contract with the Pennyfeather family
would definitely be void.
But the boss had said not to mention anything related to the Pennyfeather family in front of him.
So, Jeff naturally ignored the Pennyfeather family and would no longer pay attention to them in the
future.
lan came out of the elevator and stopped at his room door, unable to ignore the joy in his heart.
But the person who should have been waiting in the room wasn’t there.
He frowned and pushed open the bathroom door to look.
Nobody.
There was a sticky note on the entrance.
“Mr. Raymond, it seems you won’t be coming tonight, I have some stuff to do, so I left first.”
lan tore off the sticky note, gave a cold smirk, and threw it in the trash.
He took out his phone and called Maja.
But at that moment, Maja was with Felix Brown, rushing Nathan to the hospital.
Half an hour ago, Nathan had called her while enduring the pain and then he had passed out.
Maja rushed to the place immediately, and when she arrived, she saw Felix fighting with some people.
She wasn’t sure if it was her imagination, but Felix was fast and decisive, knocking down all the
remaining guys and then helping Nathan into her car.
Seeing Nathan’s swollen face, unrecognizable from before, Maja was taken aback.
Felix sat next to her, the taste of blood in his mouth and looked at her.

Maja felt a cold aura from him, like that of a wolf king in a wolf pack.
Nathan sat in the back seat of the car, delirious with pain.
“Don’t hit me, I won’t talk.”
“I won’t call Penny.”
Admittedly, though Nathan seemed somewhat cowardly usually, this time he insisted on not calling
Maja.
Maja felt a bit guilty. After all, this had happened because of her. Otherwise, why would Knox bother to
target this small fry? When Nathan was wheeled into the emergency room, Maja’s phone rang.
She had just pressed the answer button when a nurse asked.
“Who is Nathan’s family?”
Maja was about to answer when lan’s cold voice came from the other end of the phone.
“Huh.”
Even through the screen, Maja felt her skin crawl.
“Penny, give yourself an hour to clean up and get over here.”
With that, the call ended.
