"Is that what you really think, Dad?" "And what about you?" Geoffrey asked. "You're not dumb. You and Sebastian have hidden sthings from me. You should know better than anyone who Rose truly loves." Yvonne suddenly fell silent. Geoffrey raised his hand and patted her on the shoulder. "Vonnie, you wouldn't want to see your brother get hurt, would you?" "But what if my brother is destined to get hurt? What should be done if he ultimately finds out that Rose is someone he cannot love, and that he can't acknowledge her child as his own? What, then?" Yvonne asked. This secret was known only to her and Christopher, and her father didn't know about it yet.
"Why does your brother need to know that Rose is someone he can't love? Sometimes, being a little foolish in love isn't a bad thing." Geoffrey thought of his own relationship with Sydney. Sydney was someone he couldn't love, either. She was Wesley's wife, yet he still wanted her desperately, even going so far as to threaten her just to spend a little twith her. His son loved someone else's wife in the sway. They were truly father and son, both equally stubborn.
Seeing the self-mocking smile on Geoffrey's face, Yvonne was a little confused. It seemed like he was talking about himself.
She couldn't help but feel indignant on her mother's behalf. "Dad, was my mom the foolish one in your relationship?" Yvonne didn't understand why Geoffrey didn't love Xyla. She had thought Geoffrey was just fickle and fond of younger women, but to her surprise, he had found an older woman-another man's wife, no less.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtYvonne would have preferred her father to chase after young and beautiful women. At least she could believe he wasn't truly in love with them, and that it was just his preference.
If he chased after young women, he would move on after a while and wouldn't invest his feelings. Yet, the woman he got involved in was Sydney.
Yvonne was afraid that Geoffrey was in love with Sydney. If that was the case, it had nothing to do with youth or beauty anymore.
At the mention of Xyla, Geoffrey frowned. "Vonnie, haven't I already told you that your mother and I are divorced? Stop bringing this up." Yvonne suppressed her emotions, and said, "I understand, Dad. I'm going to the restroom." Yvonne purposely went to a more secluded restroom and waited there.
When she saw a servant, she quickly approached her. "Wait a moment." The servant asked, "Miss Carter, is there something you need?" "When did Sydney Harper start coming to my father's place?" Yvonne asked solemnly.
The servant was startled, and quickly shook her head. "I don't know." Yvonne pulled a few bills out of her purse, and handed them to the servant. "Now, do you know?" The servant was tempted by the money, but was still too afraid to speak.
Seeing this, Yvonne added a few more bills. "Hurry up and talk." "Miss Carter, I-I don't dare to say it." "Don't worry, I won't tell my father. I just want to know when Sydney and my father got involved," Yvonne said. "Why don't you just askdirectly? Why bother asking her?" A voice suddenly sounded from not far away.
Yvonne jumped in fright-she turned to see Geoffrey standing there, watching her.
Feeling guilty, Yvonne stammered, "D-Dad, why did you follow me?" "Because you have perfect timing. You arrived after Sydney just left. Have you been staking out the villa?" Such small tricks couldn't escape Geoffrey's notice.
Yvonne lowered her head, feeling very nervous.

Geoffrey stood in front of Yvonne, towering over her with a cold expression, "Why didn't you just as You're facing your own father.
It's really disheartening." Hearing her father's icy words, Yvonne couldn't hold back her anger. She raised her head and mustered the courage to ask, "And don't you think you've madefeel disheartened? What's your relationship with Sydney?" "I'm divorced. Am I not allowed to see other women?" "You can see other women. You can date as many as you want after the divorce, but why does it have to be Sydney? She's someone else's wife!" "I don't care," Geoffrey said coldly. "I don't care whose wife she is. If I
want her, I have her! Yvonne, you're my daughter, so I won't but that doesn't mean I won't get mean Opunish you, angry. I'm warning you, stay out of my affairs." "And what about Mom? Why did you divorce her?" Yvonne shouted angrily. "Was it because of Sydney? What's so great about that woman? If she were syoung, pretty, ne woman, I could understand. But woman she's a middle-aged Mom's age! Your son married her son's ex-wife, and you two are doing this? It's disgusting!" Geoffrey slapped Yvonne hard across the face.
The slap was so forceful that Yvonne fell to the ground, clutching her burning cheek. She turned and stared at her father in shock.
Although her father had been strict over the years and sometimes harsh, he had never hit her. This was the first the had done so.
Geoffrey's eyes were filled with cold fury as he said sharply, "It's not your place to lecture me, brat! Who I want is my business.& don't care who she is or who her son is!" "So, you really divorced my mom for that woman? What trick did she use to seduce you? Tell me, tell me!" Yvonne cried in anguish.
