Chapter 1408
Unfortunately, Quincy wasn't swayed by either her gentler approach or pressure. When Lydia walked in, Mrs.
Perez almost thought she was there to confront her.
But Lydia's tone was detached as she spoke, "Mrs. Perez, all your hospital expenses have been paid. Rest and
focus on recovering. When you're discharged, | can help arrange for a good rehabilitation facility if you'd like."
After everything that had happened, Lydia couldn't bring herself to call her "Mom" anymore. "Mrs. Perez" would
have to suffice.
Mrs. Perez was stunned. Lydia had actually cto see her?

Just as he had done with his father, Quincy briefly informed her of the situation, then left with Lydia, leaving Mrs.
Perez lying in bed, lost in thought.
Mabel said softly, breaking the silence. "There's something I've been meaning to say. You've gone way too far in
the past. | know you're my aunt, and you've donesfavors, but | can't keep ignoring what's right to
blindly take your side." Mabel feared that if she kept helping, it would only lead to more harm for her aunt's
family. She didn't want to be a part of that.
Mrs. Perez muttered, "How did Lydia end up pregnant again?"
After everything, things had cfull circle.
Mabel sighed exasperated. "Isn't it good that she's pregnant? Quincy had a vasectomy already, and even if he
tried to reverse it, there's no guarantee it would work. Things are good as they are now. Honestly, Aunt, you
need to stop interfering. Quincy just can't live without Lydia."
Mrs. Perez finally seemed resigned. "I'm done. I'll focus on getting better. | need to live a few more years."
As for Tiffany, she had waited endlessly, convinced Quincy would caround. But instead, she got word that
Mrs. Perez had changed her mind!
Outraged, Tiffany stormed into the hospital, standing over Mrs. Perez's bed. "Mrs. Perez, I've respected and
honored you like my own mother, but how do you see me? How could you playlike this?"
"Tiffany, | never meant to deceive you. | truly hoped you and Quincy could be together, but your generation
thinks for yourselves. It's not like when we only listened to our parents' wishes," Mrs. Perez said gently.

She could barely feel her legs and was already struggling to survive each day. She had no energy left to interfere
in others’ lives. As long as she could live independently again, she would be satisfied.
Tiffany sneered, no longer hiding her
contempt. "You say that, but if you couldn't handle it, you never should have involvedin the first place Now,
because Quincy's pushing back you want to back out? I'm not Lydia. | won't be dismissed so easily!"
Mrs. Perez was stunned to hear such words from Tiffany, unable to believe it. "Tiffany, how did you beclike
this?"
"Mrs. Perez, | only humored you because | thought you could helpmarry Quincy," Tiffany replied, rolling her
eyes. "But look at you now. You can barely move, and Quincy doesn't listen to you. Why would | waste time
flattering you? Did you really think | was that desperate for another 'elder' in my life?"
