Betrayal At The Altar

Chapter 433

Rachel stood in front of the drinking machine. “Have you checked the surveillance cameras near the cemetery?”

“I did,” Lucas said. “I could not find anything.”

The culprit dared pry open the tombstone and take Aunt Sophia’s ashes away. That could only mean that he had

planned for this.

If not for the staff patrolling the cemetery at night, the culprit would have done the deed without anyone noticing.

Rachel had some calculated guesses who the culprit might be.

Her intuition told her this had something to do with that person she met at the cemetery that day.

It was just her suspicion.

But once there were suspicions, it was as good as passing a verdict.

Rachel was so engrossed in her thoughts that she did not notice the boiling water overflowing from the kettle.

The water splashed onto Rachel’s legs. She immediately came to her senses and instinctively stepped back from

the kettle.

Lucas hurried forward and turned off the power. He looked at the red mark on her leg and frowned. “You need to

run cold water over it now. Hurry.”

After washing her leg in the restroom, Rachel returned to the ward.

Old Mr. Johnson had fallen asleep when she went back.

In the ward, Tom and Adrian were discussing who should stay to watch over Old Mr. Johnson.

“I’ll stay,” Rachel said softly.

Tom and Adrian looked at each other. Tom then said, “Rae-Rae, I’ll stay here tonight. You guys go back first.”

Rachel shook her head gently and looked up at Old Mr. Johnson lying on the bed. She spoke in a soft but firm tone,

“I want to stay here.”

Tom frowned slightly. He got up and walked to Rachel’s side. He reached out his hands and held her shoulder. “The

doctor has already said that your grandfather is fine. Go back and rest tonight. Come back tomorrow.”

Before Rachel could protest, Adrian said, “Let’s go. I’ll send you

back.”

Since both her uncles had already decided, and Rachel was helpless.

Immediately outside the hospital, Rachel noticed the black Rolls-Royce parked in the parking lot.

Her heart suddenly tightened.

He was still there?

The man was wearing a black suit and was standing in front of the car with one hand in his pocket. He exuded an

indifferent and noble aura. Every movement he made was alluring and hard to ignore.

The dim light from the street lamp shone on him, as if encasing him in a layer of protective light.

His head hung low, he was replying to messages on his phone. Then, as if sensing something, he looked up.

As soon as he saw Rachel, the cold glint disappeared from his eyes, revealing a gentle smile.

Perhaps his presence had softened her heart, or maybe it was instinct. Rachel left Adrian behind and drifted toward

David, unconsciously.

She looked at David. And without a word, she fell into his embrace.

David held out his arms naturally and wrapped them around her shoulders. His deep and cold tone was filled with

gentleness. “Tired?”

Rachel snuggled into his embrace and replied in a m*ffled voice, “Why didn’t you leave?”

She thought that David would leave after sending her to the hospital. She did not expect him to wait there.

“I’m worried about you.”

His tone was calm, and there was a hint of gentleness at the end of his sentence. It was deep and warm, making

Rachel feel at ease for no reason.

Rachel looked up at him, and their gazes met without any warning.

She stood on her tiptoes and kissed David on the lips.

Her kiss was unruly and untrained. It came crashing head-on on David’s lips, but it aroused him.

His arms slid down slowly from Rachel’s shoulders to her slender waist. His arms tightened around her waist. How

he wished he could swallow her into his body.

In the car, Eddie could not even bear looking at them.

What a sin!
