Betrayal At The Altar By Dolores Delia Chapter 103
Jane Smith snorted and opened the box. Then she saw an ordinary–looking pocket watch inside. Her
eyes revealed a trace of disdain.
Jane was convinced that Rachel Grey didn’t have the ability to procure a decent gift.
“With how confident you carried yourself, I thought you would have a rare gift, but it turns out to be a
defective pocket watch.”
A part of the pocket watch was stained. It was obvious that someone else had used it. It was unknown
which trash pile Rachel had picked it up from.
“Miss Grey, I can’t believe that’s the gift you brought.”
“As expected, no matter how well one dress up, a pauper will always be a pauper!”
“Miss Grey, if you’re really short of money, you can come over for meals. After all, we, the Smith family,
invite you over not because we want anything from you.“–

More and more people started to raise their voices. They seemed bound on humiliating Rachel.
“Rachel, I thought you would have led an easier life after you left the Smith family. I…” Louis Smith
stopped. He sighed slightly. “Feel free to ask me for help if you have any difficulties. I will do my best to
make it up to you.”
Rachel did not even spare Louis a glance. She only let out a soft laugh.
She put down the teacup in her hand and walked towards Old Mr. Smith, looking forward. There was a
faint smile on her lips. “Grandpa Smith, did you see what’s inside?” Jane sneered, “Isn’t it just a broken
pocket watch? Don’t tell me that it’s valuable?” Just as Jane was about to reach for the pocket watch,
Old Mr. Smith exclaimed, “Stop!” Not only was Jane shocked, but everyone else was as well. It was
because the stern look that Old Mr. Smith gave had scared them.
Everyone subconsciously looked at the pocket watch in the box. It was just an ordinary pocket watch.
Could it be that there was much more to it than that?
“Rachel Grey, let me remind you out of kindness. Today is Granpa’s birthday. Don’t blame me for what
happens if you present anything unbecoming,” Jane warned Rachel, gritting her teeth.
Unexpectedly, Old Mr. Smith reprimanded Jane before she could finish speaking. “Shut up! Don’t
embarrass yourself here!”
“I…” Jane stared at him with an aggrieved expression.
“Jane Smith, be good,” Mr. Smith warned coldly.
Jane pouted indignantly and walked over to Mrs. Smith.
“Rae–Rae, could this pocket watch be… Jehan Cremsdorff’s Gold, Enamel, and Diamond–set

Verge Watch?” Old Mr. Smith stared at the item in the box intently. He wanted to take the pocket watch
out from the box to have a closer look but retracted his hand, for fear that he might damage the
antique.
Rachel nodded. “I’m impressed. You really know your stuff.”

Old Mr. Smith was so pumped up that he felt his blood pressure rise.
It was known as one of the most valuable collectibles in recent years. A rare and unique antique like
that was a godsend to Old Mr. Smith, a collector.
At this moment, Mr. Lewis, who was an avid collector of antiques, said with a trembling voice, “Jehan
Cremsdorff’s Gold, Enamel, and Diamond–set Verge Watch? The one that was auctioned off for 1.91
million dollars?”
“1.91 million dollars? How can such a thing be worth so much?”
Mr. Lewis shook his head and explained patiently, “You don’t get it. This pocket watch was crafted by
Jehan Cremsdorff, a watchmaker during the late 17th century. It’s value as a collectible is
immeasurable.”
With that, the banquet hall fell silent.
Olivia Cruise’s expression froze a little. Her sharp nails dug into her palm. She was not expecting that
thing to be so valuable.
