Chapter 688
[Oh.]
Quinn didn't ask further questions at that. She knew that Cordy’s life was all about Dicky now, and
Cordy would never say no to the boy.
Zoe then added: [By the way, I miss him a little now that you've mentioned him.]
Cordy offered: [Want to see him? He’s a little hunk now, and almost my height.]
Zoe refused. [Forget it. That can wait until I’m successful... I mean, I used to be, so I can't let Dicky feel
that I'm down and out. Or at least as successful as Cora.]
[You're still as successful as her.] Quinn butted in.
[Zip it. Do you think you'd be that nonchalant if you're in my place? I've just been assigned a harder
grind for now. Once I overcome this, I'll be a star again.]
Cordy couldn't help smiling at that.
Just then, someone knocked on her door.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Come in," she said.
Dicky entered her room in dark-blue pajamas.
Cordy checked the time to see that it was already past nine.
What was he doing up? Wasn't he supposed to be tired?
Somehow, he appeared to have a lot weighing on his mind. What on earth was going on?
Cordy quickly put down her phone. "What's wrong, Dicky?"
"Nothing," Dicky replied, quickly shaking his little head. "I saw that your lights were still on, so I came
over."
"Why aren't you sleeping? Can't sleep? Or are you not used to this place?"
"No, I'm just..." Dicky was once again hesitant to speak.
"What is it? Can't you tell me?" Cordy asked, regarding him seriously but also teasing him. "Is there a
girl you like?"
"No.’ Dicky's little cheeks flushed, though Cordy already knew that-she just wanted Dicky to relax.
Then, he asked, "Mommy, don't you miss Daddy?”
Cordy had a hunch that was the case.
John was about the only person whom Dicky would get melancholy about.
"No. You can't raise the dead," she replied.
"But what if he's alive?" Dicky said seriously.
"There’s a real shortage of miracles in this world, Dicky..."
"I mean, what if Lucas is Daddy?"
Cordy sighed. 1
She had no idea how to curb Dicky's enthusiasm and obsession with Lucas, since even the parental
test before couldn't convince him.
Nonetheless, she said, "Dicky, I'd rather your daddy stay dead, than find out that Lucas was actually
him."
Dicky stiffened for a moment, and there was a brief flash of disappointment in his eyes.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"Why?’ he asked softly.
"Because I can’t accept a man who cheats on me, whatever the reason may be," Cordy replied.
"What if he lost his memory?"
"That’s not an excuse."
"But what if he's really Daddy? What would you do?”
"I'd leave him," Cordy said sternly. 'Even if I'd be heartbroken.’
Dicky bit his little lip.
For Cordy, she didn’t really intend to curb his enthusiasm. At the same time, she wanted nothing more
than for Dicky to stop his obsession with Lucas.
Their family shouldn't be affected because of someone trivial.
It then occurred to her that they should return to North City soon—Dicky probably wouldn't get any
funny ideas if he wasn't around Lucas.
And so, she said, "I'll tell your great-grandfather that we're going back to North City tomorrow."
"Already?" Dicky was obviously reluctant.
And here he was thinking he could stay longer...
