Chapter 567

"Of course, to motivate the leaders to be more proactive, what else?" Simon said in a self-justified

manner. After all, everyone seated at the table were at the management level and they would all side

with him on this matter. He was clearly doing this to please the management so that they would remain

loyal to him. "Since everyone seated here is at the management level, I’ll be frank. Everyone knows the

20/80 rule, in which 20 % of the people own 80% of the wealth in this world! I was merely adhering to

this principle."

Cordy chuckled.

He made it sound so sanctimonious.

She knew clearly that Simon was simply trying to weaken her power through the management. Even if

all of Sachs Enterprises' shares ended up in her hands, he had the company's management in his

hands. To be blunt, he still had the final say in Sachs Enterprises.

How naive.

"Chairman Sachs, please don't find anything wrong with this. Everyone who can climb to such a

position is capable in their own right; they either contribute more than ordinary employees, or they are

extraordinarily talented and deserve recognition."

"It's not that I find it wrong. I do agree with you that everyone who can climb to such a position is likely

more capable than ordinary employees and therefore deserving of their high pay," Cordy agreed.

Simon smiled smugly.

He did not believe that Cordy would dare to say that the senior managers were not fit for their roles in

their faces, unless she had lost her mind.

"So, in order to allow the senior management to shine in their own right and show how much better

they are than ordinary employees, I've decided to raise their salaries by 5 to 10%," Cordy announced.

The moment she said so, commotion broke out across the meeting room.

Given the current economic downturn, other companies were cutting their employees' salaries. Not

only was Sachs Enterprises the only company that did not do so, but they even went further by raising

salaries, which made the senior management thank their lucky stars. Of course, if they were smart

enough, they would know that Sachs Enterprises was affording them a good life because of personal

grudges and reasons. And now, they never expected to receive yet another salary raise up to 10%.

A look of confusion overcame Simon at Cordy's announcement.

Was she trying to use his approach to buy over the senior management?

He would never allow that to happen.

Simon glanced at one of the directors seated at the table.

Another director immediately spoke up. "Chairman, that's not a very wise decision you're making. I'm

not against you raising everyone's salaries, but you're doing so amid the current economic situation.

How are we going to explain to our shareholders?! Are you just intending to make use of our

shareholders' money to curry favor with your subordinates?!"

Simon sneered.

There was no way he could not beat Cordy at his game.

"What if I can placate the shareholders while raising the salaries of the senior management at the

same time?" Cordy counter-questioned him.

"Are you going to use your own money? Perhaps as the top businesswoman of North City who's risen

to the position of third richest person, I'm sure it's not difficult for you to pull out some funds to do so,’

the director said sarcastically while not forgetting to blow Cordy's trumpet.

He was clearly trying to put her in a spot.

"That's two separate matters. The internal matters of Sachs Enterprises should of course be borne by

the company itself. If I were to pull in other businesses, it would firstly be unfair to the other company.

Secondly, that's an indirect insult to Sachs Enterprises, a hint that they have to depend on another

company for money and that'll make it the butt of other people's jokes."

Her words effectively silenced the other director.
