"I won't let go of her hand. I won't leave her side!" Irwin said, each word simple yet resolute.
Clyde raised an eyebrow. Hearing Irwin's strong words felt almost like a joke to him.
The next moment, Clyde retorted, "If you want to keep her, it depends on whether you have what it
takes!"
Clyde's words were meaningful, and no one knew Irwin's thoughts after hearing them. Clyde then
entered the room, leaving Irwin alone in the corridor.
Irwin's eyes shimmered with an unprecedented determination.
Too much!
He had inflicted too much pain on Natalie. This time, he just wanted to do everything to stay by her
side.
When Dylan approached Irwin, he couldn't help but feel a pang of empathy seeing the desolation in the
man's silhouette.
Even as a man, Dylan's heart tightened at that moment.
"Sir." Dylan stepped forward, bringing Irwin's attention back.
"Did he leave?" Irwin asked.
"Yes."
"Where did he go?"
"Well..."
What could Dylan say? His tone was heavy, and Irwin understood that Cedric was really gone.
Irwin had received word beforehand that Cedric had evacuated all of his people from Wexford. Kayla
had also been taken away.
Cedric had truly left Wexford. No one knew where he was headed. He had left Natalie's world
completely clean of his traces. His departure felt suffocating and painful.
After a long pause, Irwin's voice tightened as he said, "It's better that he's gone!"
The departure of one person was agonizing, but the pain for those left behind was even greater.

Undoubtedly, he didn't want anyone to see him in such a sorry state in the darkness.

The future seemed... even more uncertain now! -
It hurt... It really hurt!
After the anesthetic wore off, Natalie endured endless tears.
"Miss, the doctor said you could have some soup."
"No need!" Natalie trembled, and her body was soaked with sweat.
When Clyde entered, he saw Natalie enduring the pain. He furrowed his brows and approached her.
"Cly, it hurts."
"I'll go find the doctor to give you a painkiller injection."
"It's fine!"
"You..."
"Too many injections aren't good either!" Natalie had already received one earlier in the morning.
Perhaps she had used too many painkillers before, so the pain persisted even after the injection. She
didn't want to use more painkillers. It wasn't good for her body.
So, she chose to endure it. But enduring it wasn't pleasant, especially for those around her witnessing
her pain.
"Are you sure?" Clyde frowned.
"Yes, I'm sure!"
"Then have some soup. You need to eat something."
"I don't want to eat."
The pain was intense, and cold sweat beaded on her forehead.
Natalie had always been afraid of pain.
When was the last time she was in this much pain?
It was after the big fire at the detention center. She couldn't even use anesthetic in order to preserve
her unborn child. She endured that kind of pain, never imagining she would have to bear such agony
again.
That was also why she was reluctant to undergo surgery. During the operation, there was an anesthetic
to numb everything. But once the anesthetic wore off, the pain she would have to endure would be
almost unbearable.
"I'll call the doctor," Clyde said.
Natalie was visibly enduring endless agony. Even her family couldn't bear seeing her suffer so much,
so the doctor was quickly summoned. She had already received an injection in the morning, so now
only painkillers pills could be used.
When Natalie swallowed the pill, she could hardly taste its bitterness. Perhaps the medicines she had
taken in Yuloria were too bitter, so now she truly couldn't feel even a hint of bitterness.
Ten minutes later, Clyde looked at Natalie and asked, "Feeling any better now?" "It still hurts " Natalie
renlied
She truly felt no relief. Perhaps she had developed a high tolerance due to previous medication
overuse, so the painkillers had no effect on her.
"I'll ask the doctor again," Clyde said.
What kind of crappy painkiller did the doctor give her? Why was she still in pain?
"No need," Natalie stopped him, grabbing his sleeve as he got up.
"You...?"
"My pain receptors must be too sensitive. It's not the doctor's fault or the medicine's," Natalie explained.
Clyde was at a loss for words. Natalie always considered others' feelings, but what about herself? She
bore so much pain alone, which made him feel even more sorry for her.
"I'm going for a smoke," Clyde said.
"You're not allowed to look for the doctor, okay?!"
"I got it," Clyde replied, slightly irritated.
What could he say to her in such a situation?

As he left the ward, he saw Irwin leaning against the corridor. He had undoubtedly heard the
conversation between Clyde and Natalie just now.
Both of them made their way to the rooftop.
Click! Click!
Clyde lit a cigarette in frustration and asked, "You heard everything just now?"
Irwin remained silent, acknowledging that he indeed heard it all.
"She shouldn't have to endure this pain," Clyde said with restrained frustration evident in his tone.
Even in his restraint, his anger was palpable.
Clyde was right. Natalie shouldn't have to endure this pain. Whether it was the fire or the surgery, it was
all related to him and Cedric.
Only when seeing Natalie in such agony could Irwin truly understand that neither he nor Cedric
deserved forgiveness.
"Yes, you're right," Irwin finally spoke after a pause, his tone filled with bitter pain.
Clyde was right. Natalie shouldn't have to endure this pain. Yet, it surrounded her, haunting her
relentlessly.
"Just like him, don't appear in her life anymore," Clyde said.
Clearly, Clyde knew Cedric had left. After coming out of the operating room, Cedric was escorted by
the medical team Kyle had arranged for and left the hospital.
He had left Natalie's world entirely.
Irwin had witnessed Natalie's suffering firsthand. Now, Clyde was also telling him to leave.
How could he?
"Do you know what he said when he decided to give Natalie his corneas?" Irwin asked, restraining his
emotions as he looked at Clyde.
"It's none of our concern," Clyde replied curtly.
Irwin fell silent.
