Chapter 53 Do you know the Bennett Group Hayden knew all the dirt about what went down at school and found out Allison had killer grades. It was clear she was just holding back before, not wanting to show off.
Such a sweet and sensible girl, yet her parents couldn't see it. Hayden couldn't wrap his head around why Preston and Blair were so biased! It wasn't until Hayden got back to his room upstairs that Preston started to blow his top.
As soon as Hayden was out of sight, Preston turned to Blair, fuming. "Look at you! How could you give birth to such a disgraceful daughter? She took her brother's shares and now wants to attend the shareholders' meeting. Is she planning to replaceas vice chairman soon?" Blair felt a headache coming on, but Preston's words were way out of line. "Isn't she your daughter too? She's been headstrong since she was a kid and has been away for years. How could she just follow our plans?" Preston's eyes flashed with disgust. "Don't worry about the company's affairs. Your job is to manage Yasmin! The Walker family has been talking with the Bennett Group recently. If the two families team up, my position in the Bennett Group will be rock solid! Yasmin is a sensible kid. If she can marry into the Walker family, that would be perfect!" In fact, Preston didn't care about Yasmin. A guy who only cared about profit had no room for family affection. But when it cto the Walker family, Blair had to take it seriously. This was her daughter's future and couldn't be taken lightly. After evening study, just as Allison stepped out of the school gate, someone called her.
Late at night, Preston actually showed up at the school, which caught Allison off guard.
"Mr. Bennett, do you need something from me?" Allison asked, surprised.

Preston tried to keep his cool and said, "You don't need to attend the shareholders' meeting on Friday. From now on, just take the dividends from the Bennett Group and stay out of the company's affairs!" Allison raised an eyebrow. His desperate attempt to keep her out of the Bennett Group made him look guilty. Thinking of this, Allison said, "Mr. Bennett, you have no right to tellwhat to do. Whether I attend the shareholders' meeting or not is my decision! You can't bossaround because no matter what you say, I will be there!" "Allison, you're so ungrateful! You took your brother's shares and disrespect your own parents. If I had known it would cto this, I would have strangled you at birth!" With that, Preston stormed off, leaving Allison fuming as she watched him go.
Meanwhile, Alexander was sitting in a car not far away. Seeing Preston storm off, he called James to check if anything had happened recently at the Bennett Group.
James quickly got the scoop and reported back. "Mr. Carter, the Bennett Group is holding a shareholders' meeting this Friday. Hayden plans to use this chance to bring Ms. Bennett into the company. Preston wanted to stop her because she has 20% of the shares and that's a threat to his position. Plus, the Bennett Group's cash flow is in trouble, and he's looking for a fix!" After hearing this, Alexander's eyes turned cold. He wouldn't let anyone who upset Allison off the hook.
He calmly instructed, "Dig into Preston's background and get the info to Allison before Friday!" After hanging up, Allison got into the car. Seeing her unhappy expression, Alexander asked calmly, "Did you run into strouble?" Allison shook her head, then after thinking for a moment, she turned to Alexander. "Mr. Carter, do you know much about the Bennett Group?" Alexander smiled slightly, "Not too much. The Bennett Group is a mid-sized company, and such companies usually only work with subsidiaries of the Carter Group." In other words, the Bennett Group wasn't big enough for Alexander to care about.
Allison said, "Can you doa favor? I have to go to the shareholders' meeting on Friday, but I don't know much about the shareholders. I can read financial statements, but I'm not clear on the business side of things." Alexander looked at her with a barely-there smile. "How about I teach you? Showthe Bennett Group's financial statements, and maybe I can help you break them down." Allison wasn't sure what Alexander was really thinking, but after a moment, she nodded. "Alright, I'll show them to you when we get home." Alexander nodded, his smile growing, his eyes fixed on her. It felt like he was getting closer to her.
Thinking of this, Alexander felt more at ease, and even his steps following Allison upstairs were lighter.
Back home, Alexander slipped into scomfy slippers, took off his coat, and headed straight to the kitchen. Before long, he had a bowl of beef pasta ready.
When Allison cout after changing, Alexander pulled her over for a late-night snack. "Eat first, then we'll look at it." Allison didn't argue. She knew they'd be up late, and without sfood, she might not make it through.
After eating, Allison washed the dishes, then brought over a laptop and opened the Bennett Group's financial statements for Alexander to see.
To be cautious, Allison didn't use her personal computer, which had too much info and could easily give her away.

After a few glances, Alexander said, "The financial statements show that Preston has been transferring the Bennett Group's assets for three years straight. Looks like your grandfather noticed something was off, which is why he gave his shares to you!" No wonder Alexander was a business tycoon; he saw through things with pinpoint accuracy.

"I noticed that too. Preston is transferring assets, but if he's doing it so blatantly, why didn't Grandpa stop him?" Allison had been pondering this all day. Plus, Hayden had been out of the country for five years, right when Allison was kicked out. There had to be a connection.
Alexander continued, "All these assets were transferred abroad. The Bennett Group's overseas shipping industry is doing well, when m Jasper joined, he took charge of the shipping group. Your brother is capable, but Preston isn't well-regarded in the industry, and his investments have repeatedly failed. I'll have James look into it and send you the info."
Then, Alexander started explaining how to use financial statements to understand a company's operations. As a shareholder, Allison wasn't yet ve qualified to manage the Bennett Group, so she could only use financial statements to analyze project risks, which was right up her alley. She might not be great at business, but she was excellent at analysis. "I didn't realize there were so many techniques involved. Mr. Carter, you're amazing!" Allison couldn't help but admire Alexander. He was not only professional in business but also had a keen eye. No wonder he was the top business tycoon in the country.
Once she got busy, Allison lost track of time. By the tshe realized it, it was already 3 AM. Seeing her glance at her watch, Alexander gracefully stood up. "I should go now. You should get srest; you have class tomorrow!" As he reached for his coat and changed his shoes, he heard Allison's voice behind him. "The master bedroom is empty; I haven't been in there. Why don't you stay the night? It's too late to go out now." Allison didn't see the slight smile on Alexander's face. He had been pretending, just to see if she'd ask him to stay. To his surprise, she did, and Alexander felt an unprecedented sense of joy.
"Is this going to cause any trouble for you?" Alexander asked, feigning concern.
"No, it's your house anyway," Allison replied. "Besides, you're Mia's uncle. What's the big deal?" Hearing her words, Alexander's previously cheerful face instantly darkened. He didn't want her to see him just as Mia's uncle, but as a man.
