Chapter 1020
Vince and Saul swallowed hard and hesitated for a second before reaching out slowly. When they were inches
away from the briefcase, the man immediately closed the briefcase up. "300 thousand dollars in cash, not a
penny less! However, you can't just take it like that! I'm sure you know there are rules about things like this,
right? If we pay you, this must end here!" Upon hearing the man's words, Saul nodded abruptly, "Understood,
well settle everything here. You can leave right away with the goods!" "Actions speaks louder than words!"
As soon as these words were uttered, Vince and Saul seemed to understand what he was hinting. As their eyes
met, Vince pulled out a notebook from his pocket. Obviously, he was well prepared. The notebook in his hand
was tiny and looked like the type that one would jot down phone numbers in.
Quickly, Vince had written up a receipt for them.
As the man's eyes scanned the receipt, he said to them, "We can give you the money, but to avoid any possible
troubles in the future, I'll need the both of you to stamp the receipt with your
fingerprints!"
Handing over the briefcase of money in one hand, he handed over a red stamp pad with his other.
Obviously, they didn't expect that to happen. Vince and Saul were evidently hesitant. They looked at each other
again, neither one of them made a move.
At that moment, the man spoke again, "This is to make sure that you wouldn't provide us fake names. With your
fingerprints in place, we will be able to track you down no matter what! So, do it or we are calling this deal off!"
While speaking, the man was about to pull the briefcase away from them.
At the stime, Vince urged Saul eagerly and said, "Con bro, we're talking about a valuable item here, it's
reasonable!"
Then, the two of them looked at each other again. One grabbed the briefcase full of cash and the other took the
stamp pad. Both of them signed their names on one side of the note and stamped their fingerprints beside it.
"The fragments are yours now! So, the cash is ours then?"
"Of course!"
Taking the receipt from them, the man inspected it before turning and backing away.
Holding the briefcase, they turned away and walked in the opposite direction. In an instant, Victoria was anxious.

She turned to Trevor and tugged at his clothes. Was he letting them get away just like that?
Before she could say anything, several men in police uniforms rushed over and caught hold of the both of them.
One of the policemen even opened the briefcase.
"Chief, it's real cash, and no less than 100 thousand!"
"What are you doing? That's our money!"
Vince and Saul protested loudly. At that time, a policeman took out his handcuffs and cuffed it onto their wrists,
"We have received reports on the both of you being involved in fraud, blackmailing and scamming. It involves
large amount of money! We're now taking you back to the station for investigation!"
At that time, Trevor's subordinate ran towards them with the bag full of blue vase fragments, "Sir, | was the one
who reported them. This is the evidence!"
"No, we didn't do it! They gave it to us voluntarily!" While Vince was fighting back, the man suddenly pulled out
his license.
"Excuse me, I'm an antiquarian working at an antique certification centre. | assure you that the so-called
"antiques" inside the briefcase are all fakes. Hell, they're not even good imitations!"
At that point, another man marched over,
"I'm a lawyer, I'll be the one representing my client who is pursuing this case. I'm sure that we can get a
conclusive answer just by looking at if the briefcase has my client's fingerprints on it, what the so called
"antique" is made of, whose fingerprints are on it, how it's shattered, and the surveillance camera footages
around here. According to Article 247 of the National Penalty Regulations, the defendant can be given of a fine
between 10 to 30 thousand dollars for extortion, and or including jail tof between three to ten years. Since
the value of money involved in the scam this twas 300 thousand, | would like to now request for these two
suspects to be locked up with the charge of felony with no option to be bailed!"
"You tricked us!"
"How dare you lie to us! Oh, just you wait, we won't let this go so easily!"
As they were being hauled away, Vince and Saul continued to shout angrily. They turned back and glared at
them. Victoria was terrified as she buried her head in Trevor's arm, not even dared to show her face.
"Don't be scared, they're just paper tiger who bully the weak ones and run when they face people tougher than
them! I'm sure they'll never see the light of the day again for the rest of their lives!"
Were they planning a revenge on Trevor? Please, they really thought they could get out of jail, how naive!
The group of scums had probably
been around for sometime.
Scavenging the streets, waiting for someone innocent to fall prey to them! It was obvious that it wasn't their first
rodeo, and God knows how many innocent people had been scammed by them in the past! However, their
fortune had ended when they messed with Trevor!
He glanced down at Victoria, who was still in his embrace, held onto her and asked, "By the way, what are you
doing in this part of town?"
It was only then did Victoria cback to her senses. Patting her chest, Victoria swallowed hard and said, "Since
we are going to have dinner outside, | thought that | will cearly to get a table for us..." "To get us a table?"
Lowering her head, Victoria stuck her tongue out, went silent for a few seconds before saying, "I just wanted to
have a look around the area! Camden Food Street isn't too far from here, so | went and got sfood..."
However, luck wasn't on her side. She barely had a bite of the food when she bumped into the two men out of
nowhere. Her mind immediately turned blank when the two men shouted at her as she saw how the porcelain
vase had shattered into pieces.
Not only that, but one of them was shouting about calling the police right away. That made things worst! At the
thought of that, Victoria seemed to be reminded of something and stopped.
"By the way, the man did call the police just now! On the phone, the police said he'd taken down a report, but
advised us to settle it privately for now and they'd swing by later. Would we be in trouble? Shouldn't we go and
cancel the report?"
Seeing her eyes flickered innocently as she raised the question, Trevor raised his hand and brushed her hair,
"How could you believe such lies?"
No wonder she was so frightened that she had bawled her eyes out!
"I heard it loud and clear just now!"
"Did you see that he really called for the police?" She was indeed too innocent to have simply believed what the
scammers had said.

Something seemed to spark in her mind at that moment. Victoria recalled that the two men had made a fuss
about calling the police. By the tshe'd approach them, the call had already been connected and a man's
voice cfrom the other end. Of course, she ate it all up. Coming to think of it, the whole scam must be more
than a two-man show.
At that time, she was really scared out of her wits by that call with the police!
Trying to make her feel better, Trevor pinched her cheeks gently and softened his tone.
"They manipulated you by making you feel anxious! They use the word 'police' to scare you into paying them
and settling it privately. By the tyou realized what had happened, they would've already been long gone with
the money!"
"Yeah! | don't even remember
touching their briefcase. They said
that it was antique inside, then proceeded to put the blonThey demanded | pay 30 thousand dollars, If
it weren't for the fact didn't have that much on me, might have really given it to them told them I didn't have
that much, but they didn't believeand that's why we got into a tussle! They were so fierce..."
She was afraid, but she was alone and couldn't leave. In a panic, she couldn't even recall what she had said.
When did she called Trevor? She couldn't recall what had happened, only with the fear still clearly lingering in
her heart.
"Actually, all you needed to do then
was to call the police, and that would've scared them off! So, no matter what happened in the future, don't
panic. Don't try to handle it alone, and just callas soon as
possible. Even if the sky as, 'll be
there for you. Do you understand?"
"Okay..."
He kissed her gently on the forehead. Trevor led her while they walked into a buffet restaurant, "Get in, let's help
you to relax!"
While they were talking, they had already stepped into the restaurant. No one noticed that there was a tinted
black car parked on the opposite road...
