100 Camp Out
“True enough.” Jake nodded in agreement.
Kyle didn’t bother to continue talking as there were more giant mutated animals appearing in front of them. It seemed that these giant mutated animals were roaming happily out here.
These giant mutated animals were previously small animals.
Because they were small, they were used to be chased by other bigger animals. After all many of these giant mutated animals were herbivores. Well, there were also some that were carnivores, but the majority that they had seen were herbivores.
Herbivores animals usually ran in front of carnivores.
But now that they had turned into giant mutated animals, they were bigger than the previous carnivores.
Some of the giant mutated animals had grown courageous enough to fight back and strike against those carnivores. It seemed as if their instinct had changed one way or another after the mutation.
These giant mutated animals even dared to attack humans.
Swish! Swish!
.....
The next battles were very monotone. Kyle, Jake, and Dylan took turns to deal with these giant mutated animals. Since most of the giant mutated animals were only at either rank 1 or 2, it was very easy to deal with them.
Looking at how slow these giant mutated animals progressed, Kyle guessed that the second red rain not only slowed human’s progress but also animals. After all, these giant mutated animals were previously also advancing very quickly.
‘But this little one is still very fast.’
“Meow?”
Kate peeked her head out and glanced at Kyle. She was confused why he suddenly stopped attacking.
“It’s nothing.” Kyle glanced at Kate and waved his hand, burning countless giant mutated animals near them.
Kate blinked her eyes.

Time passed quietly.
Soon, it was night time and they were in the middle of nowhere with countless giant mutated animals waiting to prey upon them in the forest.
“Are we going to stop here?” Jake asked as they walked to a rather open area but there were still some trees surrounding them.
They were technically still in the forest, so it was natural that there were more trees. However, even in the forest, there will be some areas that had lesser trees and could be used to stay for a period of time.
“Yes.” Kyle looked around and nodded. He tapped Kate’s head. “Camping supplies.”
“Meow~”
Kate swiftly took out their camping supplies and Jake quickly moved to make their tent. They only needed one big tent and two of them will sleep while one of them was guarding outside.
There was also sleeping bag prepared.
“Meow?”
Kate glanced at the others who also set up their camp not too far away and blinked her eyes. The closest one to them was the Sunshine Group and one of the women were staring in their direction from time to time.
It seemed that she must have taken an interest in either one of them.
Well, she herself had to admit that these three were all handsome. Even after being near them for a period of time, Kate still had to say that her sense of aesthetic hadn’t changed that much.
Aside from the fact that she believed that she might have higher requirement for handsome in the future.
“What are you looking at?” Kyle noticed Kate was looking outside.
“Meow.” <You're still not answering my question like always."
“Little Kitty.”
“Meow.”
In the end, Kate said nothing and simply looked at the scenery outside. Anyway, she didn’t care what the other people were doing as long as she could stay near Kyle. It was only when she was near him that she felt somewhat save.
It was probably because Kyle was really strong.
As a weak person... well, Kate was not completely weak, but she definitely wouldn’t be able to survive well if she was left alone. She just knew that she was not the type of person who could survive on her own.
“Hey everyone, is it possible that we come to an agreement?” A member of the Sunshine Group asked. “I mean, do you want to ignore each other all the time? What about when we finally met with rank 4 giant mutated animals? The military said that there might be rank 4 giant mutated animals, right?”
“Rank 4?” Jake was stunned.
Kyle nodded. “That’s a possibility.”
“Holy. How strong will they be?” Jake was curious. He himself was already rank 4, so he was curious about how he would fare if he had to face against a giant mutated animal at rank 4.
“I don’t know.” Kyle had never seen giant mutated animals at rank 4 before. The best they had fought against was only at rank 3, so he was not entirely sure.
“How do you want to cooperate?” Lotus suddenly asked. She looked at the member of Sunshine Group. “You should know that it’s impossible for us to truly trust each other in this place, don’t you?”
“Even if we’re unable to fully trust each other, I think it’s still possible to cooperate together to deal with the giant mutated animals out there.” The woman from Sunshine Group who asked was a bit flustered.
“Hey girl, if you think that just because you’re weak, you can make us take care of those giant mutated animals, then you’re wrong.” A man from Rodent Group laughed. “Do you think that those who dared to take this mission will be afraid of a few giant mutated animals?”
“That’s...”
“Just be like how it is today,” Jake spoke up. “It’s not like there’s any problem with us dealing separately with these giant mutated animals, right?”
The woman from the Sunshine Group was at loss. She took a peek at Kyle, but saw that he was not even looking in their direction and felt somewhat disappointed.
After that short drama, everyone went on doing what they were doing before.
No one paid attention to this short interlude anymore.
“Meow.”
Kate flexed her paw lightly. For some reason, she noticed that Lotus’s change was indeed very great. It was to the point that she couldn’t believe that this was the same Lotus who would act as if she was in great pain when she was scratched.
The men would feel pity towards her and being the school belle she was, it was only natural that they would get attracted to her.
But well, it was during peace.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmNow that there were countless giant mutated animals roaming out there, it would be impossible for her to survive if she were to keep the same methods and tactics.
Kate was amused by herself.
She didn’t have to care about Lotus at all, but she couldn’t help but to pay more attention to the other party. Probably it was because there was only Lotus whom she knew in this group aside from Kyle.
And she had some interaction with Lotus too in the past.
Just a bit.
Due to group projects where the teacher will be the one to determine the group, she had accidentally landed in the same group with Lotus.
That was when she saw Lotus was technically ‘using’ the boys around her to help her doing her work. Well, being pretty really had its advantage.
Thankfully, not all boys liked girls like her.
If they did, Kate would really look down on all of them for having the same taste.
“Let’s go to rest. I’m taking the third shift this time.”
“Got it.”
The other two nodded and let Kyle rested first. Dylan then glanced at Jake and the two of them started their battle of rock, paper, and scissor. After three times, Jake won and happily went into the tent to sleep.
“Oh, Kyle, did you see the face of that woman?” Jake clicked his tongue. “Even when we’re facing giant mutated animals, there are still people who are thinking that way.”
“These giant mutated animals couldn’t make people forgot their true nature.” Kyle was not surprised at all. He had already encountered a lot of things and seeing someone who was still thinking of opposite gender in the face of giant mutated animals roaming around was definitely not new.
Jake nodded. “Right. I think that because you’re too handsome, you attract a lot of butterflies.”
“It’s better to be handsome rather than average looking like you.” Kyle passed a glance at Jake and then continued to prepare his sleeping bag.
Jake was speechless.
He was considered as good looking, alright?
Damn that Kyle. He should have never said that his friend was handsome or it would just inflate Kyle’s ego.
While grumbling, Jake continued to prepare his own sleeping bag.
“Meow.”
Kate tilted her head in confusion and then looked at the door carefully.
