Aion made his choice and decided to deal with the enemy in order to learn how she was able to create the portal. Once he crossed it, Aion saw the mirror disappear. He didn't drop his guard and kept his bloody ax in hand, but nothing happened aside from him hearing the sound of the waves. In any other situation, he would have felt quite calm at such place.
"It looked like I landed on the same spot three thousand years ago, but the scene around is a bit different…" Aion thought while looking around and seeing the empty beach.
It was mid-afternoon as well, but the most important thing that Aion noticed was the fact that the atmosphere felt heavy. The sky was completely cloudy in all directions, and the waves on the sea looked pretty tough as if they were trying to warn Aion that a storm was coming.
"I should have asked Fenhair where her base would be in this period of time… the ocean is just too big to look around aimlessly," Aion thought.
After thinking about it for a second, Aion decided to check some things. He concluded that the death knights could be summoned again and that he also could talk with the souls so that the world wasn't under the control of someone that could use time magic well.
"What is wrong? Why all of a sudden are you on a beach?" Arc asked.
"Someone used time magic to transport monsters to our time, and that stopped the flow of the entire world," Aion explained. "Only me and the guardians were able to stay awake."

"By the way, do you two know anything abo the history of the period three thousand years ago?" Aion asked.
"... Only a small portion," Arc replied.
"Do you know anything about an underwater kingdom?" Aion asked.
"I don't know…" Arc replied.
"I do… it was a place that was ruled by a species of people that were born between humans and aquatic monsters. Over the years, a certain woman with magic powers high enough to power up an entire army rose and became their queen," Annalee said. "Her kingdom was supposed to be located right in the middle of the area between our coast and the ring continent beyond the ocean."
"A breed between monsters and humans… is that even possible?" Aion furrowed his eyebrows.
"They were called monsters in the past since they Lower bodies of aquatic creatures, but their upper bodies were like humans," Annalee explained. "Also, they used to lure crewmen of ships and even caused the destruction of many fleets with their powers to charm humans. All attempts to negotiate with them were rendered useless, so they became even worse than mutated humans that lost their reason and lived for fighting."
Calling them demi-humans was probably more accurate. In any case, it seemed that they stopped existing at some point in the past… fighting them in the water was close to suicide without proper weapons and technology, so Aion could only assume that the woman moved her entire society to another period of time… that sure was a hardcore way to use time magic.
"Was she unable to make her soldiers spawn on the ocean… it would be easier to make a lot of them pass the mirror like that," Aion rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
Many things regarding that situation smelled fishy, so Aion had to investigate more… First of all, he summoned the draconic wanderer and made him push an earth platform as fast as he could toward where their base was supposed to be. Still, Aion wondered what he could do… it wasn't like he could go underwater and fight them. Or could he? Even if the underwater pressure was massive, his strength and endurance were way beyond human levels.
After flying for several hours, Aion assumed that he had found the middle of the ocean, but there was no way that he could see the enemy's base like that. He had to find a better solution.
In the end, Aion decided to change a bit of something that he used before… After enhancing his magic staff with water magic and making it as cold as possible, Aion made it spin while going downward. Even before it reached the ocean, it created something like an ice tornado of a medium scale, which was around fifty meters wide… Aion made sure that the base of it would reach the bottom of the ocean, and he found a few responses while the ocean was freezing.

"Only small fries here… let's go further South," Aion thought.
Although Aion could recover enough mana to keep a spell of that level up and running, it sure was mentally tiring.
Despite the fact that it was a bit risky and quite cold, Aion decided to head to the center of the ice tornado once he could see the bottom of the ocean one hundred meters below water level.

"What the hell…" Aion furrowed his eyebrows.
"It looks like a lot of water mages from our kingdom are impressed by your skills and decided to offer you their help," Arc explained.
Aion sighed… Why would the Millerians suddenly help him because of that alone? They were a lot more egocentric than he had expected… even though he already knew that he was a prideful bunch.
Now that Aion thought about it, once the mage class was completely mastered, the Priest class got more experience and assumed that the mana was being transferred to it… however, considering what happened now… it looked like things could change according to the quality of the mana of the person that gave the mana. Maybe Aion could find a way to make use of that…
