Chapter 440

“Mr. Graham lets me ride on his neck and takes me around to play with lots of stuff!” Aiden exclaimed, counting

with his fingers and explaining in detail all the fun things he had played with. Most of them were things that boys

liked to play with and were usually done by father and son together.

A trace of sadness flashed through Amelia’s eyes as she listened to Aiden.

Regardless of how much she tried to take on the role of father, the reality was that there was no father figure in

Aiden’s life as he grew up. She was well aware of the envy on Aiden’s face every time he saw other children being

accompanied by their fathers.

It’s just that… Warren would not be a good father. In fact, in Warren’s eyes, Aiden was someone who should not

have existed.

Rosalie saw the gloom in Amelia’s eyes and quickly changed the topic. As she was about to leave, she looked at

Amelia and asked, “How is your injury?”

“It doesn’t bother me so much anymore. I don’t feel as much pain when I walk,” Amelia said, smiling.

“Did Warren come to see you again?” Rosalie asked afterward.

Amelia shook her head and replied, “Ever since I hurt myself in front of him that day, he has never appeared in

front of me again.

“If you need my help, please let me know. There may not be much I can do right now. But it would be more helpful

to have an extra person to help out,” Rosalie said.

Amelia smiled and said, “All right, I will definitely let you know if the need arises. What about you? How are you

doing? Is there something going on between you… and this Mr. Graham that Aiden mentioned?”

“We are just casual friends. Perhaps it’s even a stretch to call us friends. He’s a former colleague from when I

worked at the Environment and Sanitation Administration,” Rosalie interrupted Amelia.

“I think he must like you,” Amelia said. “How else could he be patient enough to go to the amusement park with you

and Aiden?” she thought.

“Amelia, I do not want to think about these matters involving love and relationships. It’s not a luxury I can afford,”

Rosalie said.

In her life, to truly find someone to become a couple with, to spend the rest of her life with, and to grow old with,

was a luxury she no longer dared to expect.

After experiencing a series of events, the childish idea of romance she had harbored was crushed into pieces by the

reality of

life.

When Amelia heard what Rosalie said, she didn’t say anything in response.

After all, for Amelia, love was also a luxury she couldn’t dream of.

Sometimes it was easier to convince others than ourselves.

Meanwhile, Fiona came to Calvin’s villa, looking for him.

When she entered Calvin’s bedroom, she didn’t find him. She only noticed a purple gown with tiny diamonds and

lace flowers on the hem lying on the bed. It was exceptionally beautiful and exuded a romantic and girlish charm.

Fiona was no longer a young girl. However, her desire to look beautiful had not diminished.

She couldn’t help but pick up the dress and immediately check how it looked on her in front of the floor-to-ceiling

mirror next to the wardrobe.

Fiona wondered, ‘Is this the gown Calvin wants to gift me? Is he trying to give me a surprise?

The gown looks quite expensive. If I wear it, there is no doubt that my status will definitely skyrocket. When that

time comes, won’t I be just like the other socialites in the city?’

Fiona looked at herself in the mirror and felt she was no longer the wife of a small-town blacksmith who had to put

up with her husband’s temper. She was a socialite of Strico and the future daughter-in-law of the Gunner family.

At that moment, the bathroom door behind her was pushed open. Calvin, who had just washed his hair, came out

with water dripping from his hair.

When he saw the gown Fiona held over hers, his expression darkened with his eyes. He snapped, “What are you

doing with that gown in your hand? Put it down!”

Fiona was startled by his cold voice.

Fiona stammered, “I-Isn’t that gown for me?”

As soon as she asked that question, Calvin’s expression changed again. “True, but not exactly true,” he thought.

In fact, he had planned to find the little girl who had saved him once and then give her the gown because he had

promised to give her a purple gown with tiny flowers.

But after he had finally found Fiona, he still couldn’t connect her to the little girl from his childhood.

It was as if he had missed someone for so long, but when she finally appeared before him, he felt she was so

unfamiliar.

“I’ll buy you another gown later if you want one,” Calvin said as he took the gown back from her.

Fiona’s face stiffened for a moment, but then she pretended to be unaffected and said, “All right. Thank you, Calvin.

By the way, I took out some money on your card today. Is that okay?”

“I gave you the card, so it is up to you how you use it,” Calvin said indifferently.

“I didn’t use the money for myself. Rosalie broke up with Jonathan, and I thought she might have a bad financial

situation. I wanted to give her the money because I was worried about her,” Fiona explained, looking upset. “She

probably looks down on these few thousand dollars. She wouldn’t accept it.”

“Really?” Calvin echoed, staring at Fiona, which made her feel guilty.

“That’s true. Now that I think about it, it’s quite normal. After all, the kind of lifestyle Rosalie had when she was with

Jonathan was definitely different from this. Besides, she has suffered a lot in prison, so even if she has become

greedy and materialistic now, it’s not surprising. I’m not sure if she would deliberately find an excuse to approach

those wealthy men in order to continue living a luxurious life. I’m worried that someone might deceive her,” Fiona

lamented.

Fiona slandered Rosalie to make Calvin think that Rosalie was the kind of woman who was greedy and materialistic.

So, even if Rosalie said something in front of Calvin in the future, she could also make Calvin think that Rosalie

deliberately lied to. approach him because she had broken up with Jonathan and didn’t want to live a hard life.

That was Fiona’s plan.

She didn’t want Calvin to believe in Rosalie’s words at all.

But as Fiona continued, she noticed Calvin was not listening to her. His gaze was fixed on the purple gown he had

just taken from her.

“The purple gown… Calvin is going to give it to Rosalie!” Fiona thought in shock.

Fiona’s eyes flashed with envy. She had the feeling Rosalie would take Calvin away from her at any moment. Even if

Rosalie didn’t tell the truth, Calvin would still accept her.

“No, I can’t let this happen!” Fiona thought.

On the weekend, Lillian came to visit Rosalie. “Are you free today?”

“I suppose I am,” Rosalie said.

“Let’s go shopping and relax our minds. I will take you to a good spot later,” Lillian said mysteriously.

“A good spot?” Rosalie asked as she raised her eyebrows, “Don’t you have to accompany Callum today?”

“This good spot I’m taking you to is not suitable for Callum to join us,” Lillian said.
